Pitchers Fielding/playing positions Topic

I was wondering how to use pitchers as positions players. My pitcher Frank Corridon of 1904 can play a decent 1B and OF. So if there is a way please tell me how to.

You can't.

Wear out and injure all your position players. Sparky will play pitchers in other spots.

this should be changed.. if you are going to allow players from an era where this was a common practice it should be allowed in the SIM. If there is concern about this making these players too powerful then adjust their salary accordingly.

They tried doing that a couple of years ago. When we tried it out in the beta test version it was an unmitigated disaster. I don't remember what the issue was with pitchers playing the field but I know when players were able to pitch they were way to goido and essentially were "fatigueless" .

It's a fatigue and pricing issue...

Hitters fatigue by PA. Pitchers fatigue by pitch thrown. If you have a hitter who starts 5 games in RF, he'll fatigue by his PA for those 5 games. Then if you start him as a pitcher in game 6, he'll fatigue by pitch count for that game. So, as a hitter, he is getting (per the sim fatigue structure) one game off out of every 6. And as a pitcher, he is getting 5 games off for every 6.

Basically, that means you can get away with (in this example) getting the use of a 600 PA hitter for the price of a 500 PA hitter, plus getting a guy who can start 30 games for free.

Just a nightmare situation.

Of course, pricing is also a problem with no satisfactory resolution, but the big bug is in the way hitters and pitchers fatigue differently.

This reminds me of a feature I'd like to see added. Is there a reason admin doesn't include both hitting and pitching stats as two separate draftable seasons for these players? For example, I'd like to have 1918 Babe Ruth avaliable as a pitcher. With all the crazy theme leagues on this site, you never know what player you may need.
