How to use the 700 inning Silver King? Topic

I've been toying with the idea of trying the 700 IP Silver King and was wondering what other kind of pitchers you would need with him to stay at 100% all year. If you ask me, for $30 million dollars, he should be able to start all 162 at 100%. Anyone ever used him? If so, how did you use him and the results? All input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The best you can do is 81 starts at 100%. There are a bunch of threads. Just do a quick search and you'll find the main ones.

I've seen him used this way: he is slated as set-up A with a bunch of low cost, low pitch count pitchers as starters, they go a few innings, then Silver King comes in relief and shuts everyone down. When he fatigues a AAA pitcher is used.

That kind of strategy hasn't worked in years. He'll still only be able to go 85 or 90 times at 100% at best. Pitchers also fatigue faster when used in relief. You can get 90-100 starts at 90+% stamina if you do it right; all of those will be reasonable starts.

try john clarkson at coors. ;)

Wow 30mil for a guy that will only start half your games.Pick up 2 450+ inning guys for less money. And they will start all your games.

You can still get 85-88 starts at 100%, up to 95 starts if you're willing to drop down to 90%... and up to 116 starts if you're cool with going down to 70%. It's a little frustrating that you can't get as many starts out of a player as you can relief appearances, as you can get 115 relief appearances out of an RP at 100%, but not out of an SP as they do fatigue faster in an RP role, and they are also limited to so many consecutive starts before a special appearance fatigue beyond the 70% of games fatigue kicks in... It's doable, but it takes some micromanaging early in the season to get your rotation all set up right for King to get both his 750+ IP and more than 81 starts.

My current project is to try to get 110 starts and 1,000 IP out of Clarkson... my first attempt got me 859 IP and 98 starts, my 2nd attempt is about 100 games in and I don't know yet how it's going to turn out.

82g. 32gs. 56-11 524ip. at Dodger with 30 games to play. Never pitched below 96 (except 2-3 "hangovers"). Can pitch 5-6 innings 3-4 games in a row if his pitch count stays in the 50-80 range. I plan to use him in at least 20 more games 'til the end.

Will definitely try another team with him in the future.

I'm just saying in live play after pitch 105 he falls under 78% when started @100%
