What factor is more important to determine who is a better base stealer,a players speed rating or his actual SB success rate?

I hear that WIS has an Ambassador to Newbies position open. You should consider applying.

Isn't this the site to ask questions to learn about WhatIf? Did I read the forum description incorrectly or did it not say to ask questions? If you don't want to share your knowledge, fine, just don't respond then. I want to play the game better and I want to thank the people who have been kind enough to do so.

I am a newbie too and I understand your frustration but you have to understand, just as I do, the reason the veterans are unwilling to give specifics is that that knowledge was hard earned and gotten by screwing up royally on occasion so if you want a clarification on a stat or how it was derived they will give you those tools but you have to learn how to swing the hammer yourself. I'm in the same boat

A player with 90+ speed with no SB (or a low success rate) will not be a solid threat. As a matter of fact, I set their steal rate at zero. Pay attention to success rate and the number of attempts. A full time player may be 6 for 6 in real life, but if you attempt to steal with him very often...the success rate goes down significantly.

A good place to look is at the player's "performance history" to see how he's performed on average. Another good habit to form is to do a search for the info you seek. Good luck!

I just bumped a good thread on SB speed v. success rate that I remembered from a few months ago. You should read it.

This is completely untrue. You can find the answer to virtually any question in the forums. The point of the response was not that information won't be shared, but that you should first look to see whether it has already been posted. If looking for an answer to a steals question, before posting it do a search for "steals," "stolen base," "sb" etc. and see whether the information is already out there. Short of telling you what players to draft, most of theowners on here are generous in sharing specific information.

except for me.

My first team is doing very well. I beginning to understand the SB rate a little better though. I drafted a bunch of roto studs that steal and hit HR's. The team is hitting the heck out of the ball, (the top four spots in the MVP are my guys), but they are not stealing. I'm okay with that.

I have gone back several months and read everything and a couple of people have sitemailed me with advise. I appreciate all the help.

I hope to break the mold and win with my first team though !
