explain twisting Topic

Would someone explain "twisting" as regards drafting? Nothing to do with Chubby Checker. thanks.

Usually twisting means you can "twist" a player from a given team to any season of their career.

So, for example, if you're required to draft a team from a given year, like the 1991 Twins, with one twist, then that means you may take any one player on the 1991 Twins roster and use any year from his career.

Is this a twist then?:

you create a whole team made up of anyone who ever played for the Mets . . . and then you can pick those players from any year of their career no matter who they played for? For example, Willie Mays played for the Mets, but you pick him from one of his better years with the Giants.

I guess that could be considered a twist as well, but the most common version is you'd pick a specific team (eg: '69 Mets) and twist a specified number of players on that roster to any year of their career.

yes, that would be a franchise twist, as opposed to a single-team twist, but it's the same idea.
