I picked up 1976 Mark Fidrych in a WW league I was in, and he was okay for me in the regular season going 10-8 with a 4.03 ERA (the league played like a 90M cap).
In the playoffs, I had to choose between him and 2009 Halladay to be the back end of a 2-man rotation with 1912 Joe Wood. I chose Fidrych, and he wound up outperforming Wood (who was 3-2, 2.97 ERA) by going 5-0 with a 0.42 ERA.
His 6 playoff starts:
1. 7 IP, 0 runs, W
2. 7 IP, 0 runs, W
3. 6 IP, 2 runs, no decision
4. 7 IP, 0 runs, W
5. 7 IP, 0 runs, W
6. 9 IP, 0 runs, W
In the TOC, he started 1 game:
7. 6 IP, 0 runs, no decision
Unfortunately my team was eliminated before he could get a 2nd TOC start. But his post-season/TOC totals were:
7 GS
5-0
49 IP
2 Runs Allowed
20 Hits
17 BB
30 K
0.37 ERA
0.76 WHIP
I realize other pitchers have had post-season runs like this before, but I'm not sure I've seen these kinds of numbers from a modern era pitcher who wasn't named Maddux or Pedro.
