Is Lance Parrish the best deal in the sim Topic

I have him for an open league coors team (so the numbers are a bit skewed, though still great even for a Coors overperformance). Our first playoff series today and I don't think I would've made it without him.

From the A+ defense to that batting line, he's probably the best $3.77 mil I've ever spent. I've tried other catchers, but I always seem to end up the best with Lance. Hell, I remember a few teams back I was 10+ games out of the playoffs, found Parrish on waivers, switched catchers from whoever I had (a Gary Carter I think), and squeaked in a wild card.

FWIW, I had him in a 1984 progressive and he finished .249/.305/.476 with 39HR and 106RBI and he threw out 43% of runners. Might have hoped for better AVG and OBP, but overall, good numbers for the price. I would stop well short of saying the best deal, however.

he always did well for me in parks like tiger, AFC, Great American, etc... his pricing went up ~20% after the last update, probably due in at least part to the "flat rate" cost originally assigned to his A+ arm, but I'm not certain of that fact. he costs $4.5mm now and may still be a good value at that level in a HR park, but I'd probably lean towards the 1975 Carter with his A+ gun (I think his CS%, off the top of my head, is about 45%) and better OBP. Both do well at the bottom on the lineup for me.

That is something else. I have never used him, but i will be sure to try now.

The biggest over performance i have ever had is Willie Horton. I drafted him in a 1960/1990 progressive, now in 1971/2001. I never imagined he'd be on my team this long, but 160 home runs later, with a career .490 slugging percentage he is still running strong. His 1965 season has to be the biggest shock. His line was 29 home runs, .273, .340 and .490 in real life. He isn't the cheapest player at around 4.5 million, and his defense is mediocre, but i just couldn't believe he blew away his real life numbers by this much. Playing in Crosley Field below is what he did for me.

1965 R 155 563 125 171 19 3 46 11756 119 4 0 0 .304 .370 .593 .963

I've had great success with Willie Horton in a progressive as well.

Parrish is a good buy, but he isn't the best deal.

I've used Lance a few times, and he's always given me the power hiitting and the defense I wanted.
