Amy,

I know how you feel. I went to 5 World Series before I finally broke through. I don't think I got my first WS until my 95th team. We had a running joke with a few LIVE guys that I had taken the real Redsox curse and placed it on my user name. It got so bad once, like you, that I ended up losing a WS when up 3-0 against dtownlove10 I believe. I even started to consider to change my name because I am very superstitious. Finally I broke through and I will tell you that your first WS, you will always remember and all the hard work that we put into these teams will be worth the while. I hope you continue to stay here, maybe even join a LIVE league to see if you can get your first there. Anyways, just wanted to give my say to knowing how you kinda feel.

I can still tell you all of the details from my first WS team... that was like 6 years ago... and I remember every detail of my roster, my lineup, my pitching staff, my playoff runs and opponents... that's pretty much the one that has stood out. I only remember one other WS that well and it was my first progressive title from the SBPL. That was the craziest series ever and the closest I've ever been in: 7 games, and 6 went extra innings, and all 7 were decided by 1 run. But that first one... :) In fact, I'm going to build the team again and see how much they cost now. back in early '03 they were at $79.8m...

[EDIT:] Team now comes in at just under $85m... A couple of my hitters had good defense/range and saw their prices go up a bit over the years.

I remember drafting this team and not having # or + numbers in the search fields provided by WIS and the + numbers being added soon after my team won and realizing everyone I drafted normalized great. The only normalized stat I used before the + numbers were search-able was AB/HR since I took the time to create a spreadsheet for it from the lahmen(sp?) database and BR.

It was from jmbreslin's "Replacement's" theme league. $80m cap, choose an exclusive franchise in a draft and then everyone on your team had to have a RL WHIP above 1.30 and an OBP below .330. You could have one "star player" that was an exception, hitter or pitcher. I got the Yankees at the 9th pick (only because the Cubs went earlier) and, of course, made Ruth (1920) my star. We were the only 100 win team, winning 118, on the regular season, and swept the playoffs. I wish they had the TOC back then just to see how far they could have gone, but it was a few $$$ cheaper for each team, so...

I feel kinda bad. My team beat her in the pm2 game. Oddly enough I didn't even build the team for the post-season. I just got lucky.

Keep on swingin', you never know when you might just get on a roll.

That's my theory, these days...

Recently, most of my teams seem to make the playoffs... but I haven't won a WS in a year or more.

I think you should express your disdain by mooning us with your soapy bottom. But that's just me...

Clearly they don't appreciate great art.

In any event, my condolences on becoming the Atlanta Braves of SIM. But the mere fact that you've made it to the WS 10 times is pretty d*mn impressive in itself.

If it's any consolation, guess which MLB team has lost more WS than you have? The New York Yankees, with unlucky 13. So, regardless of what you think of the Yankees, you're in respectable company.

Your day will come.

I still think a soapy bottom and 10 WS appearances is about as good as it gets. There is truly nothing sexier than killer baseball skillz, a soapy bottom and a plump, round booty basking in the sun on Ipanema. How does it get better than that?

I've got faith you'll make it to 27-13.

10 WS sounds pretty d*mn good to me. So far I have 2 playoffs in 30 SIM seasons. I threw away my first 18 seasons without learning anything about SIMS, and I think I may have the lowest owner rating in all of WIS. I loaded my teams with players I loved, like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Christy Mathewson, and I lost 100 games a season with frightening regularity.

Then I decided it might be nice to win for a change, so I started to read the forums and study the boxscores a few months ago. I began to check out the lineups of every HOF'er who fielded a team with over 100 wins.

Now my teams are respectable, but they're not good yet. I can usually win 90-95 a season in an OL. My Somali Pirates won 110 in an $80 MM OL, but they got bounced out of the playoffs in the first round.

I have 8 teams going right now, and my great ambition is for all 8 to have winning records. Two of the 8 are in first place after 90 games and should probably make the playoffs. Another two are in 2nd place and have a shot. And my Bombay Cobras started 10-33, but they're coming on strong.

As for the soapy bottom, all I can say is praise the Lord for pretty girlz.

Hang in there, Amesbury, in all senses of the word.
