How to add player link to chat message Topic

I have tried everything I can think of to attach a player's link into a chat message and I keep getting error messages when I try to post them.

The links I have tried are the links available on the BLOG tab of the player's detail page.

For example; I would like to post that I am willing to trade Howie Nichting, so this is what I try to post.

Open to trade offers for <a href= "http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=1379278">Howie Nichting</a>

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
