Question about 1919 Nehf.... Topic

I'm sure there are others like him, but just using him as an example....

Pre-update, he was one of the Top 10 starting pitchers according to $/IP... something like $45k if I remember correctly.

I see almost all pitchers went down in $/IP, so I get that... but now he's not even in the Top 500(!!!!) based on starting pitchers with at least 100 innings pitched... sitting at a lowly $32k+.

Not sure I'm smart enough to understand the intricacies, but if there is a simple answer (read: why should I avoid using him?) could someone let me know?

Maybe he didn't hit very well. All the hitting pitchers went up a couple million, most of the others seemed to go down.

He was sitting in my draft center pre update for a league where I can pick 1919 players. I was shocked at his price. Also the price of 1919 Pete Alexander. I'm sure it has something to do with defense, but I'll definately have to double check before I put them in.

I simply don't understand the defense. You'd be nuts not to draft all modern pitchers and deadball hitters.

Alebanta - I did see WIS favorite, Bob Caruthers go up almost 5 million.

Man he was perfect as the #1 in a 1/2a/2b rotation. Could even put him in as the #3 hitter.

Looks like all of the deadball pitchers are going to make all of the defensive players behind them poorer. Thus lowering his "value".

That's the only justification I can come up with based on who dropped by how much.

The new fielding ratings tie in, to some extent, with the pitcher. Deadball pitchers (who can't hit) seem to have dropped in price a bit... perhaps because they are going to make all their surrounding fielders stink.

On this same note, Edd Roush who is a premium defender from 1919 went up quite a bit.
