More musing on luck Topic

In my continuing though inconsistent muse on the nature of luck, here is the latest evidence that what we do as managers matters not nearly so much as what fate does to us.

What division you get aligned in can make all the difference.

I currently have four teams in first place with records of 26-23, 32-26, 14-14 and 4-3. A combined win percentage of .535. Another team with a 74-62 record (.544) is in fourth place.

strong divisions are more fun than weak divisions.

Unless you're the guy in 4th, LOL.

Any close division race is more fun and challenging than one that is not close; however, running away with a division is a rare treat.

Generally I agree. But when your in a league with no Wild Card and in a division with a Rainbow team playing .700 ball...not so much.

Tell me about it... takes out much of the joy of having a team playing well enough to be in first in most other divisions (I say as they've lost 4 of 5 and now would be 2nd or 3rd in every division)...

A booger team, of course.

what is this: La liga Mejicana De WIS
10/13/2009 7:16 PM
Si! This was The Mexican League and it has been a blast. Each team could draft a SP/RP/OF/Inf-C with a salary $4 mill of less. The other 21 players all had to be 200K guys. On top of that we got a boatload of Below Average AAA guys (names turned on). To use (and abuse).

Managing fatigue has been challenging.
League MVPs were Jim Gentile in both leagues.
My '73 Pat Dobson was one CY winner. Fellow gringos were Jim Perry, Don Buford and Wally Post. We are the Diablos Rojos. Playing in Hilltop we led the league in Avg/OBP/SLG and Runs scored.
