Sometimes its not the SIM Topic

Yell and scream but no solutions Shap.  (LOL about the randolph and mortimer duke comment).  Shap preception is reality and guess I know where your reality is. Try to kill the SIM if you would like I prefer not to.  Either way Seble will have a job, funny I never even mention this guy but you always bring him up.   What you are having some gay fansties about him?  All that repressed anger...

The sim is better now than in the previous couple of versions, AND some major updates (including and especially the release of the 09-10 player seasons) are way overdue.  I'm scaling way back on my WISNBA play (I don't intend to run more than 1-2 teams for the foreseeable future), but not really because of technical issues with the sim.

Some of my cutback is due to simple household economics...I need to spend the cash on other things.  But the rest of the motivation is the staleness of the game.  Absent some combination of the new player seasons, adjustments (hopefully in the direction of realism) to position efficiency and defense ratings, and changes to the relative valuing of offense and defense, most leagues are giving me an acute case of deja vu.  There are only so many times I can slice and parse and tweak rebounding percentages, shooting efficiencies, etc., before I start to wish some different emphases were possible.  The saving grace right now for me are progressive leagues and to a lesser extent draft leagues, where limitations in the set of available player sets constrain the ridiculous redundancies and excesses that are otherwise possible.  Also, with a few important exceptions, those kinds of leagues don't depend on the newest possible player seasons.

I'll keep dabbling in some of those leagues, but I'd love some adjustments to the sim that shake up team-building and game strategy.  All-time greats like Bill Russell, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen and Sidney Moncrief are almost more trouble than they're worth in this version, and guys like Pettit, Havlicek, Schayes and Barry are essentially unusable.  We need at least a slightly different gameboard for the long list of "what if" questions to remain interesting over the long haul.  Even a simple adjustment like allowing for variable league sizes could (I think) have a significant positive impact by allowing progressive leagues to start a good 15 years earlier and enabling lots of theme leagues that don't have quite enough interest to fill 24 teams.

thing is, leibo, we HAVE provided solutions.

Yet they are not only ignored, they are completely scoffed at.  When we offer solutions, we're told the sim is the best out there so deal with it.  Or we're told we're wrong.  Go back and reread sly's ticket and the response he got from admin.

My problem now is the same problem I had last summer:  we're completely - completely - ignored by admins here.

I know Ash I've seen a lot a good input but nothing from it.  Or defensive posturing becuase they don't know or can't do or won't do.  So that leaves limited options to what we can do.  That's all I'm saying here in the end manage what we can control.  So want the SIM to go on or kill it.

Simple ecomonics chris_snid and in a company like this profits centers are compartmentalized.  It doesn't matter its one of the richest companies in the world.  Chris_Snid you must learn to read and comprehend becuase if you read my post properly you would see I'm not defending the people who run this SIM.  I want to keep the SIM running so I can play.  End of story.  Because is there a better SIM out there? I don't hear anyone mentioning that.
play all you want, but being silent on all the real issues of the sim won't help. New customers will be smart enough to see the flaws in just a few short seasons and they will have our same frustations and most  will stop playing. The cycle is unending unless updates and adjustments are being made in a timely manner.

I've never heard an economist say "put your head in the sand and all your problems will go away". But that is what you would like us all to do. Whether you like it or not change is coming Wis Basketball will either make changes or die on the vine. Right now HD is going though such changes and the success of those changes will have a direct effect on Wis Basketball.

best of luck sir, silence is not the answer it only feeds the problem.

chris_snid do you hear me saying there's problems with engine?  Yes you did and there are so I don't know where you get I'm putting my head in the sand.  Its just all of this complaining goes on and on and on.  Anyway what changes are going on in HD?

Leibs - you're missing it. You're really missing it. I don't want to kill this thing - I want it to be "best in class." Meanwhile, you suggest that it already it is, and that we should accept it's shortcomings - the very definition of accepting an inferior product.

Right now it is the best piece of $hit in the marketplace - not something to hang your hat on. Combine that with the fact that the staff ignores suggestions, doesn't provide us w/timely updates, and basically steals our money...well...I'm throwing in the towel for now. I'm not wasting my hard earned money on this trash.

And you can "fansite" yourself, pal. Enjoy yourself in this forum. I'm out, and I'm also thoroughly convinced you're a nitwit.

eleibowitz is being very clear that the sim has problems.  As I recall, the opening thought was that some owners / users (not anyone who's contributed to this thread, in my experience) loudly and frequently blame the sim (and/or WIS staff) inaccurately and unproductively.  I agree with this.  I've read a bazillion complaints from owners who lost a game in ways they didn't like, when a) all kinds of weird things happen on occasion in real-life NBA basketball, and b) we draft chances at certain outcomes, not certainties.

To my mind, calling the sim (or the site) trash is overstating the issue.  Again, I think the sim is better than the previous couple versions.  The chief reason I've cut way back on the time and money I spend on it is because it's gotten boring - the lack of change (and the time that clever users have had to figure out and exploit loopholes) has made the vast majority of usable league concepts way too predictable.

If the complaining about the sim hurts the customer base, well, that's what WIS gets. Why should anyone here who's upset not voice their feelings over something they have invested time and money in? Just because maybe they will drive away new customers? Please. People need to vent. WIS made their own bed and now they need to sleep in it, complaints and all. No way people should be quiet, it's just not healthy - THE FCKING UPL IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS SH!T.

The sim has mostly evolved for the better since I've been here BUT it has also gotten progressively worse as well in many aspects (customer service, randomness, salary, D ratings, etc).

Garyman never said queit but there's a difference between criticism and outright just complaining about everything at all times.
