there was no afternoon game? (11/4/18) Topic

I struggle to see how this site isn't extremely profitable. Teams are overpriced. I know nothing about hosting a site, but I always thought WIS was a pretty great business model for the little they offer. I can't stop myself from buying teams. They should be able to hire one or two more people.

It's $10. For an entire season. What exactly are your expectations? Seriously … have a little perspective. $10 dollars barely gets you 3 gallons of gas. Or a plate of crap undercooked chicken wings at Applebees. Or an undersized faded t-shirt with holes in it off the clearance rack at Big Lots. $10 in WIS get's you 2 1/2 months of diversion from the daily routine. It's not perfect, and YMMV on the amount of fun it's provides for you, but still … its TEN DOLLARS. I'm not trying to be a WIS apologist either, but that's a bargain in my book.

So everyone has to put in an individual ticket? No universal fix? Sorry, that is no way to run a business.
What? No.

I mean I haven’t paid for a team in over three years, so it can’t be that profitable.

Meh, I mean, yeah it would be cool to have an engine update, get new players, etc. But dude has single-handedly kept this site that we love alive for like 15 years.

actually didn't he go away for quite a while and we didn't notice and then he returned last year with the change of ownership? - and my estimation of Scott is from long personal experience including direct interactions with him

also do we think the day to day operations of the site are actually that labor intensive?

If it was one person serving as support, system admin, bug fixes and all that (enhancements aside) then yes.

but it's mostly automated and with no updates the engine systems are mostly mature so what bugs?

Where exactly is this link? I've got 2 games on my W-L that still don't appear on the schedule.

11/05 10:52 Playoff leagues were just rescheduled with no games wiped out. Injuries from 11/5 were wiped out and fatigue was reset to exclude the wiped game. I apologize for the issue, and please let us know if there are any further problems.
11/05 10:51 There was an issue with the 11/4 pm games causing them not to sim. For regular season leagues, since the gameplan page was stuck on 11/4 opponent, we've wiped out the 11/5 and rescheduled everything.

As far as the site's bottom-line, I refer back to when I first joined. Theme Leagues filled in days instead of months and every Progressive had a wait list instead of owners with multiple teams. Why? Because there were dozens, if not hundreds, more users. Why were there so many more users? Because of constant updates that kept things fresh and interesting. If staff are added to do things like that, then owners probably return/ join, and the extra salary is more than covered. The old saying "Gotta spend $ to make $." is almost always true, and seems to be applicable here.

worse things have happened. Quick fix was made, so hey, let's move on with our lives and start using those 17-18 players.

right, but those things are physical. I don't know how many teams have been purchased, but between all of the simulations, I'm guessing they're doing pretty well. Otherwise, WIS would've gone out of business years ago and SportsHUB wouldn't have bought it.

Here's a scary idea... The price of a WISNBA team hasn't gone up since I first started playing the game. I don't know how long ago that was, but more than a decade for sure. If the cost went up by one dollar that probably wouldn't bankrupt any of us and would provide the SportsHub mothership with incentive and means to ensure a better product and better service.
