Whatever happened to Dennis Rasmussen? Topic

[]Has anyone had any success with 2009 Neftali Feliz ($1.70M)?  I'm using him an a $120M, no AAA league, and he has 16 BB in 12.3 IP (RL 8 BB in 31.3 IP).

The dude is Nails. I used Feliz in an 80m league.

41 games, 38/40 Saves, Whip 0.68, ERA 0.95, 37Ks in 38 innings. Only his ERA kept it from being the best open league season for him.

On a current team of mine in a league where almost all hitters are random way above average, his numbers are 8.53 E.R.A., .385 OAV, 2.21 WHIP and 5.68 BB/9. If someone offered me two banana peels and a 1984 Topps Chet Lemon baseball card that had spent all summer in between bicycle spokes I think I would take it. Is he this bad for everyone else
I don't know man. Chet was a good outfielder.

My crackpot theory for the day -- maybe the normalized fielding of the last SIM update is showing up more in the deadball closers than the deadball starters. A good deadball starter can survive 2 or 3 extra seeing eye grounders and errors in the course of 7 innings, but a deadball closer can't survive 1 extra error in a single inning of relief with a close game on the line.

Deadball closers like Northrop, Babe Adams, McQuillan and Maddox all seem to be trending worse. Modern closers like Neftal Feliz, Joey Devine, Steve Karsay and Cla Meredith are better than ever.

I will have to begin trying Meredith again. He used to be a staple until a couple of releases ago he began walking guys and giving up a lot of HRs.
