I submitted a ticket to customer service about finding a way to use Negro, and Japanese leaguers. They replied that they will evaluate the possibility at this month's update meeting.

As Bootone said, the easiest way to have a Negro league team or league is to rename similar players. I've seen themes do this all the time. Mike Piazza is now Josh Gibson... Kenny Lofton is now Cool Papa Bell and so forth.

I forget the name of the guy who started it (my bad), but I continued it for a copuple of seasons after that. It was the original, and before you could name your own AAA guys. Admin had to rename them each by hand, and they did just that. I used a couple of different formats, the last of which was NL players given in groups as AAA players. I might even still have the original Excel spreadsheet from that season.

I still have it, but the excel doesn't want to play nice and copy, probably due to the hyperlinks embedded. It was a fun league.

Best I can do. That's one group of pitchers. If they were black guys from way back (Dolf was from Cuba) or had ever played in the Negro Leagues we used them as-is, if not we superimposed names, based on best guess. The guy who started this was a SABR guy if memory serves. He avoided a lot of the overstatement and lore, and sought to be as accurate as reasonably possible.

Although WIS Tech says they will discuss this issue, anyone in favor of using Negro leaguers and/or Japanese leaguers should submit a ticket to request WIS use these players. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. SO, SUBMIT THOSE TICKETS !

I submitted a ticket, as did others, the reply was that they would look at baseballreference.com for stats but if they deem it a non-perfect source it would be disregarded. I am feeling like what WE want isn't what matters.

Who is this WE? I'm seeing a few guys plus a few pit legends who like to stir the pot. Not quite a mass movement.

It'd be great to play with Negro League players. But I really don't think that the stats exist in a useful form.

And, unless they do, I don't want to see WIS add Negro League players. If I wanted to play with made up player stats, I'd be doing Hardball Dynasty.

I suspect that a lot more people agree with that viewpoint.
