amycox is another really good female owner.
I like to compare a player's real life stats to their normalized stats. There are certain years that are better suited for hitters or pitchers. A good example is 1968. That was a pitching dominated year, so pitcher's with seemingly great rl numbers never match that performance in the sim, conversely hitters from that year tend to overperform. Hitters from the 30's never seem to live up to their rl #s either, while pitchers from that decade can be more competent that their stats would indicate. There are plenty of seasons where this holds true, and 1968 and the 30's just happened to be the first ones to come to mind.
I'd agree with boogerlips 100%. I, myself, did exactly what he describes, and it turned out I didn't learn what I thought I did when I haphazardly drafted my second team only 1/4 of the way through my 1st team's seaon. One team at a time is best, and also look at the teams in your first league that are doing well. You can learn a lot by paying attention to the more successful owner's teams.
good luck and welcome.
