Boogerlips wants you to ask 'how the sim works' not 'how to win games'.

Asking how IP/G works is an example of 'how the sim works'. Its the type of information that everybody has the right to know in order to play the game.

Asking about strategy and managing is an example of asking 'how to win games'. I don't find that very cool. I'm sure your opponent wouldn't either. Once you know how the sim works, you will have all the information necessary for figuring out how to win on your own. I promise the game is a lot more satisfying if you figuring things out for yourself.

Another example: Theres a big difference between asking 'What happens to my pitchers when I use a pull setting of 1? of 3? of 5?' ...or... 'What pull setting do you guys recommend I use in the playoffs so I can win more games than I would otherwise based from my own intelligence?'

I see your passion and grasp your logic. While there is a large feeling of agreement with it, it also feels a little absolute. Absolutes tend to eliminate possibilities. I have a natural aversion to them.

Imagine a teacher, a mentor, a sensei, only talking about tools and what they are for but not how to use them, or the purpose of using them, perhaps against an opponent.

Telling a student the only way to learn is through trial and error, failure, is extreme, and false. That learning style would obviously be devastating for fighter pilots.

I won the second game and lost the third. I forgot to move the pull number up from one. It didn't matter for the second game as I had a hit parade. It did cause Koufax to stay too long in the third game and give up too many runs.

After the game I went in and initially moved the pull up to 3, but then feared that might be too sensitive so I backed down to 2. I WILL learn this way. It is "A" way.

Reading several different people experienced in the game give differing opinions would be no less valuable. An observer would still have to make up his own mind. That has been my experience in here combing the forums for the "wisdom of the elders."

Do you agree totally with jfranco's strategy in this post? How differently would you or anyone else who is reading this strategize? Is his response the one and only right way? Remember the road sign that Oblio ran into in "The Land of Point?" "A point in all directions is the same as no point at all."

The answer boogerlips is somewhere in the middle - and it is fluid.

This is a game dude. Learning the tools and then figuring out for yourself how to use them is what it is all about. Don't be dense. There's no middle ground. You either are figuring out how to win by yourself or you're a fraud.

The best way to win a bunch of games is to copy/paste one of my rosters. After you draft one of my rosters, sitemail me, and I'll tell you how to manage them. I'll even tell you why the team will win. We can get you bored and out of here in no time...

I did have a teacher who once while talking about an element of his subject said, "It is either black, or white. You either do it, or you don't do it." He was one my favorite teachers because of his passion and voluminous knowledge of his craft. He loved and cared immensely about what he taught and wanted us to have his passion. I disagreed with him about that statement - but he never called me dense.

I think I have read your second post before (copy your rosters), or another iteration of it. Is it something you copy and paste to try and intimidate newbies who have questions that aren't to your liking? Why do you suspect you need to bully others? Are YOU bored - from winning too much? Your feathers are very bright you noisy little peacock.

Thanks for the offer - but no thanks. You misunderstand me.

I am sorry
