Here’s a somewhat similar story…and probably too much info.
In the mid nineties, My wife’s brother lived with his wife, two kids, and mother in law for 18 years.The mother in law passed away in 1996.In 1997, his wife started visiting “chat rooms”…I guess when chat rooms were new and people didn’t realize how dangerous they were.Anyways, she ended up divorcing him by falling in love with some stranger over the internet (which of course didn’t last).
He completely blames their divorce on her and the death on her mother in law.It seems the mother in law was keeping the wife sane.Once she was gone, the wife wanted to make herself happy (even in an unhealthy way).
Personally, I’ve been married for 13 years and it could never work out for us if one of our parents needed to live with us.Too much stress on the relationship.The first time I would reach for a drink, my mother in law would scream holy murder…and to the curb she would go, or is it to the curb I would go?J
