Not even a mention of the NBA SIM in all WIS' upcoming changes.


Initially, we’ll be putting together updates for Gridiron Dynasty, Hoops Dynasty & Hardball Dynasty.  We’ll be working with all of you in the forums and through site surveys & developer chats in order to focus on the game features most deserving of improvements and/or additions. 

We have other updates and initiatives planned:

  • We have a significant SimLeague Baseball re-design that has already been fully flushed out and mocked up.  It will consist of major user interface advances, feature additions and will put us in position to improve our progressive league features in future updates. And, it will allow us to advance our other SimLeague products in a similar fashion with more consistent features.
  • New & improved SimLeagues LIVE baseball application
  • New Dynasty games
  • Mobile extensions
  • Improved and expanded predictions

I think working on the games people actually play makes more sense than doing anything on the nba sim. Perhaps after those things are taken care of...

If WIS hadn't let the product become a totally unpredictable piece of crap, I'm sure people would still play it.  I remember the days when multiple Theme Leagues would fill each and every week.  Then WIS starting making "improvements" that made little or no basketball sense, so owners left.  I still say roll-out the oldest version of the SIM available, and owners will return.  It won't have all the "bells and whistles" (like D ratings, efg and others), but it will make good basketball sense, and when you make adjustments, the adjustment will have the effect you expect it to.  (Unlike double-teaming guys into shooting much better, or adjusting defense to the perimeter only to see your opponent hit more 3s at a higher rate.)

As per usual.

We are going to work on everything, and basketball gets to be last.

all3 is right five years ago OL's would fill in 12-24 hours, and themes would fill in 1-4 days, and there were long waiting lists for recurring leagues.  It took me like 2 or 3 seasons to get in Gym Rat, ODL, and Funk52.

Some things about the sim do make more sense now, though.  Not to quibble, but I wouldn't want to return to the days when Ron Boone torched Michael Jordan, or Gerald Govan was on one out of four OL teams.

Note that hockey was also not mentioned but - hockey has a great lead developer in mwelch.. class guy who has worked closely with the hockey community over the years. He has already responded with more info about what might be coming in hockey land

"Nope -- we're alive and better than ever!  Lots of goodies coming down the pipes!  It's just taken us a while to prove our worth to the parent company that gobbled us up and then weren't quite sure how to utilize us.  Then the economy tanked, they re-organized a few times, and other unfortunate things happened.  But now the sun is out again and we've beefed up the staff to help keep the updates coming at a regular pace again.

As for the hockey dynasty -- it is going to happen.  We're trying to partner with the NHL on this to make sure it is done right and marketed well from the start.  Terms are still being worked out, but you all will know as soon as everything is finalized.  We're also hoping to put SimLeague Hockey back on NHL.com as part of this deal to help bring in new users.

They admit the service stinks and then admit they are not going to do a damn thing about it (NBA Sim).  F U WIS.  How many times does Gridiron Dynasty need to be improved before they fix the many, many problems with the NBA sim?

Never seen the bball themes this slow, and that is saying something.  Dr. J a 100 defender while Russell is a 70. 

The site is trying pretty hard to drive us away.  I'm getting emails from a rival site asking me to come back and I think at this point, I will spend time looking at competing sites.  Never even realized there are so many others.  We'll see.

as soon as wis went to fox, the quality of the site went into the crapper... that was a few years ago... and we weathered the storms... now, wis sends a thank you to their owners who have had just one team from the past year, still forgetting the diehard owners who have always maintained multiple teams through multiple years,. especially through the dark years. again, another slam... however, i do believe admin when they imply that the shackles are off and they can again begin to focus on wis.

however, i think they need to let up a bit about predicting NFL games, MLB predictions, NCAA games... i have looked at their track record and it sucks. if i was a betting man i think i might use wis's predictions to bet against them. why do they do this? yeah, i'm pretty sure it's about advertising, but no one in their right mind would use wis as a means to place their bets with.

fox has been a poison, and as for me, what i believe about wis's newfound dedication to its original focus and style of development, well, the jury is still out. i don't think it can recapture the fun and reliability of days old, not until fox lets go of its stranglehold around wis's neck.
