Will/Should Roger Clemens go to jail? Topic

This is probably the wrong forum, but I've seen other OT's before.

Is Roger Clemens going to jail?

Should Congress have ever gotten involved?

It makes me think about how stupid McGuire sounded, but playing stupid was probably his best move.

What about Palmeiro?

If he does go to jail, it'll be funny that it will be for lying and not for actually doing 'roids

The U.S. Congress should never have been involved!!!  Don't they have better things to do, like spend more of our tax dollars on useless projects?

He should go to jail... and the HOF.  He betrayed everyone's trust, even if he was one of the greatest pitchers in the modern game.   He was very aggressive about going out and lying to everyone.  I can still remember him looking his buddy whatsisname on 60 Minutes in the eye and telling him lie after lie.  Look at Pettitte... `fessed up immediately and we all forgave him, cuz Andy is a good guy and he came clean.

well, there has to be some penalty for lying under oath, or nobody would tell the truth if a lie better served their purpose. Whether Congress should have been involved in the first place is a moot point. They were, Clemens voluntarily put himself into this position, and now he needs to face the consequences of his actions.

Congressional leaders don't lie?

With all the drug use in Hollywood, and the tragic deaths that go along with it; see Heath Ledger, why doesn't then congress bring the Actor's Guild/Union to the carpet? Perhaps it has something to do with the number and sum of political contributions Hollywood makes...?

they certainly do, all the time, but that's not the point. They have power and Clemens apparently lied to them and the American public, under oath no less. He deserves to go to jail, put his arrogant *** into the slammer for a year or so. It will serve as a deterent to others considering the same aggressive, disingenuous, arrogant strategy exercised by Clemens over the past several years. No matter what happens, Clemens reputation is wrecked beyond repair. It will be interesting to look at the HOF in 15 years or so and see that there is no Bonds, no McGwire, no Sosa, no Palmeiro, no Rodriguez, and no Clemens... some of the top HR hitters of all time coupled with the best pitcher of the past couple generations.

Remind me again - did he ever admit to steriod use or has it been proven in a court of law? If not, then we live in a society that believes the "innocent until proven guilty".

Yes to HOF

Why lie in front of congress? to save your credibility? please, spare me. If you lie you go to jail. He had the simple task of just being truthful. why is that so hard to do?

No one ever said Clemens was the sharpest knife in the draw, and his advisers/attorneys belong in the same draw. Clemens watched re-runs of the O.J. trial and figured if he lied long enough he could dodge the bullet. However being the moron he is, he insisted on opening his big mouth a bit too often, now it's going to burn him.  Even O.J. was smart enough not to take the stand. Now that he's under the gun he'll say he dis-understood the questions;and does mixing the PED's with vitamins count; and I trusted my trainers too much; and I was asleep when they injected me; and do you want to see a picture of my new puppy, etc. I'm not sure what those dopes in Congress will do to him, because you couldn't find a larger group of liars, cheaters, and child molesters, but if they feel the need to protect the institution of "Congressional Hearings", they might give him a good slap and possibly jail time. Anyway I hope so, always admired his talent, NEVER liked him as a person. Just another arrogant a--hole athlete..............

He is rich, so no.

Roger Clemens is no OJ Simpson.

Any comparision is pathetic.

Murder and Steroids is not in the same ballpark...so to speak.

Don't he means Clemens is a OJ.But that they are both  arrogant athletes that think that they are above the law. Which I would have to agree with.
