Why aren't there any foul outs in the sim?

I thought I've seen foulouts. But I was just wondering this morning about all the things you don't see in SIM. Maybe I'm not paying careful attention, but I don't remember seeing --

Two-base errors

Dropped third strikes

Batters forgetting to tag a base

Catcher interference

Rundowns

Triple plays

Two-base errors happen all the time

But yeah, as to the rest of that... I don't think I've seen it either...

No sooner did I post this than Willie McGee had the ball ricochet off his glove and got tagged with a 2-base error. I'm sure the SIM gods are having a good chuckle at my expense.

I thought about this the other day when coaching the 9B baseball team at highschool. We had all of these playes in a single game:

2-6-5 The catcher bounces one back to the pitcher and it gets by him so the runner on 2 breaks for 3rd. SS comes in bare hands it and gets the guy at 3rd.

5-6 The batter smokes one down the 3rd baseline off the fielder, he chases it over into foul play and we get the kid on 1st trying to go 1st to 3rd.

6-5-2-6 The SS makes a nice diving play in the hole and catches the runner on 3rd off the base and gets a run down.

This one is interesting to me...I don't think the catcher should get an assist on this play. Seems like it should just be scored 6-5.

Does the catcher actually get an assist in that scenario? Just because he's included in the play, doesn't mean he gets an assist...that's just for scorecard purposes

Otherwise there would be assists all over the place in a rundown situation.

What would anyone think of incorporating weather into the game? Maybe just as simple as "Game called in the 6th inning due to rain". I could see it as a feature to be turned on and off by league commissioners kinda like the injury option.

Not really important, but would add another odd variable into the mix.

I'm in favor of anything that adds more color and realism to the SIM game on the one hand but doesn't tip the scales too far away from skill toward random chance on the other. Always a balancing act...

WIS does have a lot of extra innings games. Why not have an occasional shortened games? (It sure would help with fatigue.)

They could actually work that in as a park factor at some point.

Crunch numbers each year on which stadiums actually had the most delays/rainouts and then work that in as a factor on how likely your game is to be postponed.

Could also bring in doubleheaders too.

I have seen foulouts and even errors on foul balls where the batter returned to bat.
