Recruit potential messages key/legend Topic

For a while, I've thought that "He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years" meant low potential, but apparently not. I thought it would be good to get a list of exactly what the messages are for each potential.

High potential:
1. Above average potential
2. He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us.
3. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I have an amazing upside to my game. (message from recruit)

Avg potential:
1. Looks like he has a hard time making adjustments.
2. He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years.
3. I think his growth potential is pretty average - nothing special.

Low potential:
1. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I've worked really hard and lived up to my potential. (message from recruit)

There are some other ones that I don't know what they mean exactly:
"Some room for improvement, but not much."
"I give 110%, my motor never stops running." (message from recruit).
"Probably won't see huge improvements."

Then what are the other low or average potential messages?

Adding to z32's list:

High potential:
1. Above average potential
2. He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us.
3. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I have an amazing upside to my game. (message from recruit)

4.Upside is my middle name (message from recruit)

Avg potential:
1. Looks like he has a hard time making adjustments.
2. He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years.
3. I think his growth potential is pretty average - nothing special.

4.My motor never stops running (message from recruit)

5.I give 110% out there (message from recruit) (in my experience, #4 and #5 are different messages and show up separately from each other, though I believe they mean the same thing)

Low potential:
1. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I've worked really hard and lived up to my potential. (message from recruit)

2. "Tapped out"(not sure of the exact language of the full message, but the message contains these exact words)

"Some room for improvement, but not much." - Low/Average Potential
"Probably won't see huge improvements." - Average Potential

My guesses.

Not really looking for guesses, this is for confirmed meanings, e.g. you sent out a few scouts to the same person, they returned with different messages, one of which is obvious and the other is ambiguous (which tells you the meaning of the ambiguous one).

Great potential
1. Sky's the limit (in the AC scouting rreport)
2. Incredible upside potential (in the AC scouting rreport)
3. A truly gifted athlete (in the HC scouting report)

Good potential
1. Above average potential (in the HC scouting report)
2. He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us. (in the AC scouting report)
3. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I have an amazing upside to my game. (message from recruit)
4. Upside is my middle name (message from recruit)
5. "improve a lot" (from AC scouting report)
6. "room to grow".
7. "With a little work, he could be a very good player" (from HC scouting report)
8. "Good potential for improvement" (from the HC scouting report)
9. "He's not the most gifted athlete . . . but not bad at all." (from the HC scouting report).

Average potential:
1. Looks like he has a hard time making adjustments. (from the HC scouting report)
2. He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years. (from the HC scouting report)
3. I think his growth potential is pretty average - nothing special. (from the AC scouting report)
4. My motor never stops running (message from recruit)
5. I give 110% out there (message from recruit)
6. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I've worked really hard and lived up to my potential. (message from recruit)
7. "Some room for improvement, but not much." (from HC scouting report)
8. "Probably won't see huge improvements." (from HC scouting report)
9. "He seems slow to pick things up in practice." (from HC scouting report)

Low potential
1. "he's worked really hard in high school and has about reached his potential (from AC scouting report)
2. "tapped out" (from AC or HC scouting report, I forget which -- it's been a while since I've seen this message).

These are not guesses on my part. I've done a lot of work cross-referencing the various messages and charting recruit growth during my time in GD.

These two are not the same. Tapped Out is not low potential. It is closer to NO potential. A Tapped Out guy will grow very little, no matter how much practice you give him or what his WE is. Low potential can still grow somewhere in the teens (maybe as much as the mid-20s), depending on certian things. A tapped out guy at any level will most probably grow less than 10 pts in a year. I had one on one of my teams. He was a D1AA DL with a WE of 34, and he grew 8 pts in a 17 game season.

Tapped Out is the lowest of the low. They are also VERY rare. Much more rare than STLs. I have played in over 120 seasons. I have seen my share of STLs. I have had a couple teams that had three of them at the same time. In all of my recruiting experiences, I have seen a Tapped Out scouting report ONCE!

THis post should be pinned to avoid people asking the same repeated question.

I know this is kind of off topic, but what difference can I expect in growth from a "Lot of room to grow" potential guy to an "Incredible upside" guy on a season to season basis? I usually see anywhere between 25-40 points a season for a lot of room to grow guy.

There is a noticeable difference if all other factors are equal (starts, PT).

I assumed there would be, but I was hoping for a number estimate.

"With your coaching, he could improve a lot over 4 years with us." = High potential, adjacent to "A lot of room to grow."

Ive had STLs grow over 60 pts a season when I run deep into the playoffs. I have a SR DB now who is just over 50 for the season (RD3 of the playoffs). It ll depends on thier WE and how many starts you get them mbriese.

+1

They will also grow a great deal, very quickly, in low areas. I took a STL DB a few seasons ago at Lake Forest (Yost), even though he was only in the high 20's for GI. He grew 8 points in GI each of his first two years. Don't know what happened after that, because I moved up to DII.
