I don't play that game because I think it's dumb but you hold a player back 20 minor league games to get the extra year of salary control.    But, IMO, you might be throwing away a season as you're playing 1/8th of the season and 10 of those are against division.   If they player is 22, you've got him til he's 31 with 10 seasons.  Adding that 11th might be throwing away the 1st if he's a difference-maker.   And, if he's not a difference-maker, there's no need to worry about him when he's 32.
