And on the Woodstock album - Ten Years After had one of the highlights with the classic Going Home.

Talking about popularity in England during the new wave explosion The Jam were even more popular then the Police but were unknown to the American public...they never broke through here and got very little airplay.
Yeah they were far too political for the US airwaves too bad they had some great tunes

Thanks Combalt. I’m glad I’m not the only one around here who knows the Jam. I rank Setting Suns somewhere in the top 7 albums of 1979.
Start! reworked the taxman riff. The Jam who honored their predecessors as royalty sought and got approval from George Harrison. He loved the song.
Going Underground - one of the most powerful singles ever.
the jam were one of the originators of a new mod movement in England in the 1976 to 1980 period.
think early Who and Kinks.

That's exactly what happened to Stereophonics which is really irritating. One of my top 5 all-time favorite bands!

I would definitely agree. The Jam and Stereophonics while not similar musically recorded wild success in Britain with crickets in USA.
In England Stereophonics have a humongous series of number one albums.
they are a modern pop band of Welsh extract.
and are so accessible they are considered classic rock.
they are incredibly popular over the pond and should be here too. Inexplicable.
sometimes they remind me of Kings Of Leon.

I'm just glad you know Stereophonics and how great of a band they are!

Tom Jones 2021 has the talkin blues.
He is channeling Willam Shatner and Leonard Cohen.
Tom Jones is the new Gil Scott Heron.
Video killed the radio star.
Reality was killed by a reality star.
Tom Jones has the talkin blues.

I did not include this album in my 2020 list only because it wasn’t a new studio album but otherwise the lost album of Neil Young - Homegrown would absolutely be on it. It is a virtuoso major Neil album recorded end of 74 and early 75. In not sure why it was shelved but it was. It was recorded during the dissolution of his relationship with Carrie Snodgrass.

This is fascinating. Sylvester Stallone originally begged Carrie Snodgrass to play Adrian but she refused over money or lack therof as it was a shoestring production. She would have been Irish and get this - Harvey Keitel would have been Paulie.

Chrissy Hynde is an unparalleled talent. If I had to choose 2 women’s albums in the rock genre for the desert island it would be Janis Joplin and her. And
lest anyone have any doubt that she is a brilliant vocalist who could excel in any genre give a gander at her 1994 duet with the greatest singer of recorded history Mr. Frank Sinatra as they sing Luck Be A Lady.
You will find an even greater admiration for her talent and the beauty and sexiness of her voice.
If you want to hear her sing a Pretenders song of incredible emotion and tension and despair listen to I Hate Myself off of the album - Alone released in 2016.
Only a gifted and mature artist could have created such a work of art and drama in a song.
It is a song that John Lennon or Elvis Costello would have been very proud to have written and sang.

Arbitron ratings are tanking and cancellation by producer seems impending.
