I can't find it now, and I'll botch the quotes a bit, but in one of those oral history books a player tells a story about Lefty Grove (an intense competitor who really hated to lose) throwing a tantrum in the A's dugout, cussing everyone out. He eventually gets around to Mack and says, "Go f--k yourself, Connie."
And Connie Mack, very straight-backed and proper in his civilian clothes, pauses a few seconds before quietly responding, "No, you go f--k yourself, Robert."
