And that's why you're getting hammered in this thread.

It has more monetary value, yes. But we're not talking about that. We're talking about about it's value RELATIVE to something else.

A million dollars is worth more than $100,000. But I guarantee Lebron James could flush $1M down the toilet and not flinch, while if you lost $100,000, you'd probably be in serious ****.

That $100,000 is more valuable to you than the $1M is to Lebron James.

RELATIVE. VALUE.

If you actually paid attention to what other people are saying, you'd realize you've pretty much been arguing with yourself this entire time, because NO ONE is on the same page as you. We are comparing situations. That doesn't require putting a finite value on things. All it requires is comparing the different scenarios and determining in which scenario the event has more value.

But since we aren't just discussing games decided by a 9th inning sac fly, relative value doesn't matter.

We're discussing whether or not, over 600 or 2000 or 10,000 plate appearances, types of outs matter.

Or if, because you're going to get a mix of "productive" outs and bad outs, things even out.

You keep saying "we". No one else is discussing what you are discussing. You can't reclassify what everyone else has been talking about just to make yourself seem more rational.

It's your choice to completely ignore what everyone else is arguing. But rest assured, there is no "we" in your discussion. It's just you.

What do you think this argument is centered around?
6/29/2016 11:29 PM
I just said it about 30 times. We're talking about the relative value of events (K's vs productive outs, value of events in low scoring environments vs high scoring environments, etc.).

And why are we discussing the value of individual events?

Go back to page one and start reading. This has all been stated 100 times. You've just chosen to ignore what's going on.
6/29/2016 11:34 PM
I don't think that's the case. We're discussing event values because of the "out us an out" argument.

BL doesn't get it. Once we got on the financial thing it became obvious (if it wasn't already). He doesn't understand relative value. Its all stats.

"I don't have to watch the games. I have the stats."

jtpops completely owning BL when no one is around.

Take a breath, turn off your computer and check back in a few days, BL. You need a break.
6/30/2016 6:33 AM
The funniest part of this entire thread is that you KNOW that BL believes he is owning everybody else with his brilliance.
6/30/2016 6:55 AM
Unless he's changed his argument, a distinct possibility, he's holding onto a math equation that doesn't really work.

10 homers in a 10-0 game and 1 homer is a 1-0 game has each homer valued at 1 run. Real advanced metrics at work there. In BL's mind, each homer had the same value.

However, practical application of the facts and common sense tells you one of those 11 homers was much more valuable. I don't think BL can tell you which one but I bet everyone else can.
6/30/2016 7:20 AM
But how much did the ground out in the sixth inning of the 10-0 game cost, and how much did the strikeout in the fourth inning of the 1-0 game cost?

Because, according to BL, we're not talking about actual runs, we're talking about events.
6/30/2016 7:42 AM
And by "we", he means himself, because he's alone on his island of stupidity. Even duhs found a way off the island, based on how he's pretty much bowed out of this thread.
