I think I see BL's problem now. Someone needs to explain to him that comedy involves exaggeration and hyperbole. And just because it made you laugh and nod your head in acknowledgement, doesn't make it "news" or "journalism".
Someone needs to explain to you that a show can contain both journalism and jokes.

The funny thing about satire, like Oliver's show, is the last one to get the 'laugh' is usually the one that's getting made fun of. Thanks BL for the comedic gold, one day you'll understand.

who the hell cares if he's a journalist or not? If you enjoy the show, watch it. If you don't, don't watch it.

What BL exemplifies is the idiocy of the liberal mind. All these comedy shows are taken as journalistic gospel and news. Jon Stewart was probably the first to blur the lines in their minds, which got further obscured by Colbert, until we have the laughable BL claiming that John Oliver's show is "journalism", when John Oliver himself says it isn't. AND HE (BL) STILL DOESN'T ******* GET IT.

Watching it is one thing. I've seen a couple of his monologues, and they're legitimately funny. BUT THEY'RE COMEDIC MONOLOGUES, and clearly some people interpret them as "news".

I agree that as entertainment, it's up to us whether we watch him. Quoting him as "fact" is like quoting Big Bang Theory about string theory. They might be reading a line written by a physicist, but it shouldn't be taken as real information.

Yeah. I already mentioned that Oliver doesn't consider himself a journalist. Doesn't matter. The pieces his show produces about things like healthcare and standardized tests and infrastructure are journalism.

todd - if a television show investigates an issue, interviews experts about the issue, offers companies/agencies/etc an opportunity to comment on the story, and then comes to a conclusion about the issue, is that journalism?

How many Liberals get their news from comedians like Stewart (now Noah), Colbert, Maher, Oliver, Kimmel, Fallon....

Not many, if any, comedic conservative outlets to get news from.

Why is that? I can tell you.... Conservatives take politics and the country seriously. They don't think it's a joke. They never thought Obama was a joke.... They just thought he was terrible for the nation.

Many Republicans reluctantly voted for Trump in the November election... And 2 months later 9 in 10 of them are strongly supporting Trump. They like what he's doing despite what the comedians on the left are laughing about. I won't be shocked when Trump gets reelected. They will be.... Again.
Moy the Soothsayer sees all! Moy the Soothsayer knows where BL gets his news!!

I take it you feel the same about the idiocy of the conservative mind that listen to Rush and O'Reilly?
