As long as we’re all on the same page with the fact that this plan raises taxes on middle class people in order to repeal the inheritance tax and lower the corporate rate.

You're not middle class if you have a mortgage in excess of $500k.

According to the real estate information company Zillow, the median home price for the state of California rose to $479,600 at the end of 2016. That’s a 6.9% increase over the same time a year earlier, which means average mortgage payments will be higher as well.

The median home price doesn't matter. The median mortgage would.

And you're an absolute idiot if you have a MORTGAGE over $500k and a low income. I looked at a heat map of california and if you can't afford LA, SF, SD then move to the next county out and commute. Average HOME PRICES there are $250,000 or less. The rest of the country has no sympathy for you if you are living above your means.

Yes you are. That’s a payment around 2500 a month...add ~500 for taxes and insurance and you’re looking at a $3000 a month housing expense. That’s easily attainable on $150k a year, which is a middle class, two income marriage.

Up to $500k is still deductible. Anything above and beyond that is not. Pay down your mortgage if you don't like it.

Also that's hardly middle class... That would put you in the 6-7% of income earners.

This whole argument perfectly shows how detached from reality libs are....

You're complaining about losing tax deductions on interest paid on mortgage balances OVER $500,000 when MOST OF THE COUNTRY CAN'T EVEN AFFORD A MORTGAGE EVEN CLOSE TO $500,000.

That’s individually, not household. Two people making 75k each are middle class.

So so weird that you’re now an advocate for higher taxes on people making 150k in order to pay for a tax cut on people inheriting millions.

Thats silly.... class is based on household income. If I make $75k and my wife makes $20k does that mean I am middle class and my wife is impoverished?

At $150k you're in the top 6-7% of HH income earners in this country.... so you're wealthy and you didn't even know it! Congratulations!

For BL:

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/13/heres-how-much-you-have-to-earn-to-be-considered-middle-class.html

Here's the breakdown of how much you have to earn each year to qualify as middle-income, depending on the size of your family:

Household of one: $24,042 to $72,126

Household of two: $34,000 to $102,001

Household of three: $41,641 to $124,925

Household of four: $48,083 to $144,251

Household of five: $53,759 to $161,277

11/2/2017 9:56 PM
Shows how out of touch with reality you are if you think $150k is middle class.
