Under Bernie, others would have the same opportunities you do. Instead of the poor being the ones who are cursed, the poor are the ones who don't work hard enough.

France pays for all college tuition much like Bernie suggests and college grads in France have a 23% unemployment rate.

Meanwhile in the US there are countless stories of people going from rags to riches ... Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ben Carson, Kevin Garnett, Chris Gardner, etc..

The ratio of rags to riches and the ratio of people who never made it out of poverty is towards the latter. They are exceptions to the rule.

Not nessesarily. Let me give you an example. When I was in high school, I played baseball. Let's say that I had a friend at the same skill level as me, let's even say he was better and worked harder. To play baseball you need equipment, and it cost 300 dollars to do summer baseball. My family could afford that. His could not. So because of my privledge, I would get more and better opportunities, despite not being nessesarily better or working harder. All jobs are like that. Resources cost money.

There are lots of charities that help fund access to sports for lmi families.

I 100% agree with your first two paragraphs. We are on the same page here. However, I disagree with your link. I think that if you put someone in 'the hood', and you put someone in a nice neighborhood, the person in the nice neighborhood has a much better chance of being successful. Humans take from their surroundings. If I grow up around drugs, I will probably use drugs in the future.

We should do a better job of helping people get opportunities, like where my dad works (Circles of Hope in Reno County if you are interested). It is all about connections and resources. We should also invest in education. Let people know that education matters. And, we should integrate our communities.

More money won't help.... Not until the COMMUNITY is willing to work hard to change the culture.
