No shame in Cher, italyprof. Rock & roll turned on her for going Vegas and prime time, but she released serious music like Bang Bang, The Beat Goes On, I Got You Babe & Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves. And laramiebob is definitely forgiven for Tommy Roe's Dizzy. Reminds me of my own guilty pleasure, Tommy James & the Shondells' Crimson & Clover, redone in a superior cover by Joan Jett, seguing to another guilty pleasure, Jet's Are You Gonna Be My Girl. And so it goes.
More guilty pleasures --
I'm A Believer (The Monkees)
Holiday (The Bee Gees)
Run To The Hills (Iron Maiden)
She Sells Sanctuary (The Cult)
Midnight At The Oasis (Maria Muldaur)
A Brand New Key (Melanie)
Ruby Tuesday (The Corrs)
Incense & Peppermints (Strawberry Alarm Clock)
I Can See Clearly Now (Johnny Nash)
Reach Out in the Darkness (Friend & Lover)
No Matter What Shape (T-Bones)
Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode)
Hungry Like The Wolf (Duran Duran)
Angel of the Morning (Merrilee Rush)
Hand Me Down World (Guess Who)
Canned Ham (Norman Greenbaum)
Ring of Fire (Social Distortion)
Sweet Jane (Cowboy Junkies)
Convoy (C.W. McCall)
Mr. Businessman (Ray Stevens)
Je T'Aime -- Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin
Don't Pass Me By (Beatles)
I Melt With You (Modern English)
Red Red Wine (UB40)
One of Us (Joan Osborne)
Mira esa a chica (Tequila)
Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes)
Just Dropped In (First Edition)
Are You Gonna Go My Way (Lenny Kravitz)
You Keep Me Hanging On (Vanilla Fudge)
Kicks (Paul Revere & The Raiders)
Bolero (Ravel)
Thank you ! And great list, I had forgotten entirely about Ray Stevens for example. Maria Muldaur was a very serious artist, Incense and Pepperment is still nice to listen to, and whatever you want to say about the Bee Gees, and I was very far from being a disco fan, "Stayin' Alive" is one of the greatest songs ever, and, as someone once said, Bruce Springsteen could have written or sung those lyrics.
And as dino points out, anyone who doesn't like the Monkees is not having fun.
