1972 Steve Carlton Redux
Just wrapped up a 1954 prog season. Mine was the worst overall team in the league: 51-111. We finished 49 games out of first place.
But we had one superstar, Warren Spahn. He won the Cy Young award while leading the league in wins. His record was 26-12.
Which means the rest of the staff went 25-99!
Believe It or Don't!
Spahn's put together four consecutive 1972 Carlton worthy seasons in this prog, beginning with the one described in the above post:
1954: Spahn goes 26-12, rest of staff is 25-99 (51-111 overall)
1955: Spahn goes 20-9, rest of staff is 35-98 (55-107 overall)
1956: Spahn goes 26-16, rest of staff is 32-88 (58-104 overall)
1957: Spahn goes 27-12, rest of staff is 34-89 (61-101 overall)
Averaging a record of about 25-12 for a team losing about 106 games a year!
Believe It or Don't!
