Norm just observed first hand the difference between having a press team with so-so IQs (his 8-20 season) vs. having a press team with great IQs (this season). ATH and SPD won't help you win by themselves.

As a member of his conf, we have had a few conversations about that topic throughout the last couple seasons. Nice of him to let me win one against him this year.

Congrats to Norm on winning the NT. Way to show how you guys play ball in the MIAA, it is a good conference that doesnt get as much respect as some of the other conferences. There are at least 5 coaches in that conference that can hang with anyone in DIII.

Season 29 list

here it is... a surprise at the top, but Anderson's season 19 championship dropped off the list, and so ends his reign at number one.

Eight new schools this season: John Jay, Muhlenberg, Macalester, Curry, Skidmore, Centenary, Roanoke College, Bethany. Congrats.

In danger of falling out if they don't make next postseason are: Lycoming, E. Texas Baptist, Stillman, Dallas, Cabrini, Puget Sound, Muhlenberg, Plattsburgh St., Hood, Maranatha Baptist Bible, St. Norbert, Roanoke, Bethany, and Cazenovia.

Possible entries next season, if they make the postseason: Amherst, Augustana, Daniel Webster, Drew, Greenville, Medaille, Palm Beach Atlantic, Rockford,St. Mary's of Maryland, Thiel, Transylvania, Washington, and Wheaton.

Dropped out this season: Alvernia, Connecticut, and Wheaton.

45 teams this season, I believe a new record. Look for Chicago and Anderson to do battle for #1 again next season, with taz' NC coming off the books, then I predict NC Wesleyan will take the top spot the following season, as he has 2 dead seasons at the end of the list right now, and they should come off the books the next 2 seasons...

quick enough for you? :) last time RL got in the way...

thanks for the quick update wronoj, I don't like to see my team in danger of falling out though but only way I see that happening is if I make the jump up, its either this season or next not sure yet
5/19/2008 2:13 PM
We're number 1, we're number 1. After seeing that note about Anderson's season 19 title falling off the books, Chicago quickly checks to find their lone title falls off the books next season. Better win us another one or we'll have a new #1 next year.

thanks again for the list wronoj, always a joy to follow and watch.

that was fast...

all of the Big 5 Tourney schools in the top 10...geeeeez...no wonder i have only won like 2 games in that tourney so far...

congrats Taz - if i could have kept my team at a high level i might have been able to sneak in there myself...happy to still be in the top 5 tho...

gotta love dropping off.....ughh. worst part is, there is no help on the way
5/19/2008 4:56 PM
Thanks guys! I thought we had a chance to make a deep run, but figured we were due for a loss at some point. We got hot at the right time and finished with a 16 game win streak to bring home the 'ship. Not sure what happened last season. We don't like to talk about it much around here!

Congrats on the NT, norm. You soundly squashed my delusions of a FF. nice job.

Had my chance to make the list this season (all those PIT berths gotta be good for something), but failed miserably. That's what happens when your "stud" sophmore PG decides to play like garbage most of the season. Now I've got at least three more seasons before I can make it on.
5/20/2008 1:36 AM
yeah, kreller, looks like you were just one or two wins from squeaking into the PIT, too... at least this gives you something to shoot for.
