I don't care about "dangerous" either.

Being 400 lbs and eating 10 Big Macs is dangerous.   Does our government have laws in place to stop that?
You don't have to care, but that is the legal reasoning behind it.
Suppose the street is deserted and straight.

More "dangerous" than a fat guy gorging himself on fast food every day?
It doesn't matter which is more dangerous to the person committing the act.  Driving 110 MPH is dangerous to others (even if the road is deserted), eating fast food isn't.

Driving fast on a deserted street is dangerous to others?   Even if they don't exist?

That makes no sense.   They're not there.

The only way to guarantee that the road is deserted is to close it.  In the case of a legally closed road, speeding isn't illegal.  Otherwise, you can't stop someone else from driving on to your "deserted" road and being in danger because of your speeding.

Allowing same sex marriage doesn't force anything on you.  You can still choose to marry or not.  Or stay married.  Or get divorced.  Or remarry. Or anything else you want to do.  Your values are still yours to live by.
Of course it forces something onto me.  It forces a re-definition of marriage on me.  One which I (and millions and millions of Americans) do not agree with.
Same sex marriage is already happening.  Has your marriage changed?
It's been re-defined, yes.  The institution of marriage has been cheapened by turning it into something that it traditionally has never been for thousands of years of human history because of the demands of a small special-interest group.

It forces him to explain how two men can marry when the Bible, something he holds near and dear(no idea if this is true), says that's not a marriage.

Re-defined doesn't change marriage for you.  You are still married, in the same sense that you have always been married.  Marriage was re-defined in 1967 also, and that didn't change marriage.

You know this is retarded so I'm not really going to bother.

Driving 110 on a deserted road is less dangerous to others than a severly obese man eating Big Macs in a crowded McD's.   He could stroke out and fall on a child.

Who is forcing him to explain anything to anyone?

When a child is watcing the news with daddy and sees two men getting married, it's going to raise some questions.

Is your idea of parenting "Shut up and go to bed"?    If so, maybe you should hold off on that marriage thing.

He's going to have to explain homosexuality at some point. Whether or not they are married.  He's free to explain it however he wants to his child.
5/17/2012 2:32 PM
Perhaps.   He could just say "It's wrong.  Right there in the Bible."   Except his government is now allowing them to marry just like mommy and daddy.
5/17/2012 2:36 PM
To be clear, I don't care what tec tells his kids about homosexuality or SSM.   He brought them into the world, that's his problems.    But it's factually incorrect to say something that's been the norm for thousands upon thousands of years changing doesn't affect third parties.

Lot's of things are wrong in the bible and perfectly legal.

Cursing.  Premarital sex.  Strip clubs.  Porn.  Wearing clothes made of more than one fabric.  Cutting your hair and shaving.  Having sex with a woman on her period.  Allowing cattle to graze with other types of cattle.  Worshiping another god.  Not believing in god.  Eating or touching pigs.  Fortune tellers.  Pulling out/wearing condoms/taking the pill.  Tattoos.  Divorce.  Allowing men without testicles into church. Wearing gold. Eating shelfish.  Eating meat on fridays.

Damn.  Get out the sharpie, we need to rewrite some laws.  Can't have parents struggling to teach their kids right and wrong.  Government must do it for them.

The Bible mentions strip clubs?  What version do you have?
5/17/2012 2:54 PM
It sure does.  Right after it talks about jesus playing "catch" with peter.

EDIT: it also talks about strip clubs in the same section where it forbids gay marriage.

This one, if you need a fresher course:

Your mother puts you in a trash can when you're an infant because you're an annoying bastard.   The trashman finds you and raises you as his own.  He never mentions finding you in a smelly trash can.

25 years later, you meet a girl.   You date, you fall in love.   Turns out, your mother and father decided to try to make a better baby after you were discarded.   You're now dating, and nailing, your sister.     Incest is illegal.

What's the difference between you and your sis in this situation and two dudes in love, morally speaking?

Here, Mike, pay attention!!!

I have no moral issue in either case.

Oh, and it's "refresher course."
Hey Mikey, here's your answer, now if you please, answer the question you've been dodging:

You claim to have no issue with gay marriage, yet you have no problem denying homosexuals the same rights as heterosexuals. Why?
