I've given more though about taking a run at the 80 win record. I think I have a strategy that might work, but I want to clarify something. To maximize usage, we need to keep the pitcher <70% of games played, and keep him on his innings track. So in theory, would this approach work, and has anybody tried it: Starter 1/2A/2B/3A/3B. Starter 1 is an innings eater, while the other four are studs to go 3+ innings. Then your stud comes in for long relief. That way, every six games he pitches #2/3/5/6...never above 67% of team games played. If it works perfectly, that's 108 appearances with elite openers ahead of him.
