Bump this back up for new players.

For STL also: "a very special player" In my opinion the WE and potential needs to be taken into consideration in combination now. High WE with average potential may yield a more benficial player over the 4 seasons than a low WE STL player. Plus some classess need help now and some can afford a better player to be groomed. There is no one best formula for recruiting or RS these players. (Obviously, spend like crazy on a high core, high WE - STL)

Do the "sky is the limit" guys even exist anymore? I haven't found one in a long time.
I find at least 1 every other season or so....... And just to add my two cents. Within each of those potential categories are levels. For instance, lets use avg potential because its the majority. It works on a sliding scale kinda thing. He could be anywhere from a low avg pot player to high avg pot player. In which case he'll grow closer to the low above avg pot player.... and so forth.. I see I'm not good with computerlese....

I'm still waiting for a player whose scout visit says "You will see this kind of player only once in a lifetime!"

Coach,

I just got back from my trip to see ****** ***** Overall, I'd say that he will end up in D-II.  Here's a quick overview of what I saw:

He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us.
I'm worried that he might take things a little for granted and not work hard.
He broke an 80-yard TD run in the game. It was something special, Coach.
  Great tackle-breaking ability, Coach.
It looks like he wasn't asked to block very often these past couple years.
Too bad we'll never have the money to recruit this kid, Coach.

ya know when we (i am referring to id's that are about 2 to 3 years old and have achieved some success in this game) were looking for this info back in the day we had to go find it or earn it ... the amount of info sharing that goes around these days yields 2 observations to me .. why do those that know give away what was so difficultly earned and why do newer players not learn these things way faster given all the free info and advice heaped on them ?? sorry for the off topic post but i will jump off my soap box now
Exactly, when i started in 2006 i was given info but it was limited, most i had to learn on my OWN by tweaking practices, depth charts, game plans etc...i recall a post awhile back that had to do with coaches complaining and the reply was "another example of wanting positive results with little to no effort". And also there were coaches who would mentor newer coaches thru sitemail. Does that still exist anymore or has it vanished because of the apparant "New Engine Conspiracy" ?

I agree with this everyone wants post out their strategies to be successful but each team is different. Think this is one reason why there was such a backlash when the new engine came out. With the old engine most coaches used the same cookie cutter strategy have 8 or 9 Rb and 9-10 OL then run run run out of the bone or box. Coaches would be mad on the forum when someone else's gameplan didn't work for them and solely based it on the engine. Since the engine came out I feel as I have had pretty good success not just with my team on this profile, but also my d1 team on my although profile. Both teams are different and the strategies are different and both teams have enjoyed success. Is the engine perfect? No its a simulation. I wish we could go back to advance depth charts for different sets. If you look at the big picture the more talented teams still are beating the less talented teams 95% of the time. Just don't get mad when someone else's strategy doesn't work for

toolbox, this was bumped because someone was asking in another post about the what the recruit responses mean.  The recruit response in understanding potenial has not changed.
