the other thing is, i didn't notice any real difference in recruit availability between A- and A+ in the last few seasons-- there are still plenty of good players available even when you are at B+ or B, so this seems to me a much more cosmetic change than anything.
That Greenville team that just made the final 4 was built on one good recruiting class when the prestige was C+ or B-, i cannot remember.
as for meeting expectations instead of exceeding them, i really couldn't care less. if boosters were complaining at Anderson, that would be pretty stupid. but camrun has likely raised the expectations there after 75 straight NT runs...

good point - i did not notice differences between my recruits by much and Neumann's a few seasons ago when i was helping my brother get started...maybe a few talked to me that wouldn't talk to him and a few dropped early but nowhere near the pull or effect that it has at higher levels (nor should they be)...

for the most prestige seems to be more of a window dressing than anything else at DIII

its a huge difference from A- to A+. ...

in terms of numbers you may only 'see' and extra 8 recruits. but there's only 3 other schools that see those same recruits. and they are usually very good recruits.

so yea, in terms of numbers A- to A+ is not a big deal. but when you have little to no competition for the top few recruits its a huge advantage. you spend very little, so that if you do end up in a battle you can usually win.

wronoj you still out partying from UNC getting to the FF?
4/3/2008 9:59 AM
nope... while that did make me really happy, i wish that were my excuse.
i took a free HD team in Naismith, and had to recruit 5 guys there and 4 at State, plus have been busy at work, so that is all the HD time I have had this week. Will get the lists done today, I hope.

oops I think I over scheduled my non conference this season 7 of the 10 teams I play are either ranked or considered to be ranked. guess I'll find out quick if last years final four was a fluke

I swear the SIM gods hate my team. This is the 4th year in a row we have not been ranked during the preseason. Guess we have some work to do.

9 teams ranked in the upstate, 1 more at 27 in the ORV. While we have some good teams down there, that is a bit ricockulous.

Arcadia looks to have a big season this year. Your team looks really good JJ

thx kendrik - we'll see...last year was a huge disappointment but i think we're better set inside this time around...my guards just tanked in the 3G offense i tried...

Shenandoah looks very good for you over in Naismith as well

hey Bugs we will both have to show them again this season, I don't really care about the rankings except at the end of the season, I don't think it makes a difference in season except it's just a big bulls-eye on your back

I never get love from the polls. As long as I get love from the RPI, I don't mind a bit.

Got a lighter schedule than normal. My difficult games come early. Maybe I can steal a game or two.
