Yea it was a strange 1st round in the NT..Hartwick was the only higher seed to lose (which shocked me btw) in the West, but only the 1 and 2 seeds survived in the South. Talk about a region blowing up..I've never seen that many double digit seeds out of the 1st round.

I'm not loving my matchup against 7 seed John Jay. They have one of the better presses in D3, right up there with Brandeis for the best I've faced this season. Our press isn't bad either, though, and we are among the D3 leaders in TO margin..so maybe we can limit the mistakes. Its almost like we're both getting a taste of our own medicine in this one. Its tempting to just be reckless and run uptempo into the press, but that's asking for a 25 TO game. Winning the TO battle will probably win this game for one of us.

the end of a bad season in the 2nd of the PI for Arcadia...just never came close to gelling...

william dement - one of the best guards in DIII in both ratings and IQ (who generally underperformed for his career)...ends his career with a 0 assist and 9 TO game against a full court press...the guy guarding him was a 54 SPE and 9 DEF...while dement was A+ and 75+ in SPE, ATH, BH, PASS, and PER...

i get those games do happen but i am done trying to build up players into elite guards - it's been 5 seasons since i have been noticing a serious disconnect between what should be great guards and how they end up performing...

all of the best guards i have had are now at least 5 seasons older or more - yet i have recruited and played guards with at least as strong ratings (or better)...i don't get it...

overall i thought i would lose last night but that result is kind of sad - especially with the 3 guard offense and BH/PASS i had...

good luck to the rest of you still kicking!

W CT St is still alive and cooking. We took out a solid team last night and draw Hood tonight. Should be an interesting game. of course, the winner of this game has to be favored to make it to the Final Four, since Brandeis bowed out last night.

Wow - all the way down to the buzzer. My best player misses the put back.

GL the rest of the way.

Share a seed line with both Anderson and St. Olaf in the PIT. Now that's some elite company. Of course, I draw a possible 2nd round matchup with Worcester St. if I can get past one of the Upstate's 800 great teams (HWS).
Wronoj: That sort of thing happened over in D3 Naismith this season. The top two teams from my conference, who also happened to be the top two teams in the RPI (and ranked #1 and I think #15 at the time), were seeded 1 and 2 in the same region. So instead of meeting in the Final Four or title game, they ended up facing each other in the Elite 8. WIS has shown some real problems in the way brackets have been set up lately.
No idea how i beat you so bad, kreller. I really never figured this team out all season. Now I'm matched up with an 8 seed in the Final Four.

Your team is better rebounding than mine. My team has very little defense and from time to time it gets exposed. I've got a SG (who's thankfully leaving) that I've been wanting to go all Bobby Knight on for about the last two weeks. You're a better coach. The real question is "how did I keep it so close?"

My team should be better next season. Maybe we can meet up again... this time in the NT.

Congratz go out to Mount St. Marys for a great game plan against my team to advance to the National Championship game. should be a great game between Mount St. Marys and Utica. GL to both of you

Wow, what a matchup. Cbriese takes Mt St Mary's to the championship game in only his 4th season as coach, going up against surprise Utica, who have, led by 1st year coach pottman, demolished every team they've played so far in the tournament.

GRATZ POTTMAN on your first National Title in your first year

Thanks baloochow - rode my seniors to the title. Now back to reality for a rookie coach, I'm afraid.

congrats pottman on a great run and season - the Empire 8 brings one home...

pottman or wronoj -that the 1st title for your conference?
3/30/2008 8:04 PM
3rd title for the E-8. Utica and Rochester Tech have previous titles.
