Question:

Let's say Player A played with Player B in a season and then played with Player C in another season on a different team, BUT the sim does not catalog this because of a lack of minutes played. How is this going to be handled?

so that you see the player listed on the team roster in basketball reference, but you don't see him listed on the same team in the WIS database. do we go by what's in basketball reference, or the WIS database?

This is the trickiest concept to explain but here it goes.
I’ll use your example above.
player A is selected as a link in your chain. Player B is listed as a teammate according to basketball reference but played less than 200 minutes so doesn’t have an eligible WIS season to select. Player A and B are considered teammates. You can only get to player C by choosing an eligible future season for player B. Must be advanced at least 1 year. Each advanced link forward must be an eligible WIS season.

Let me further illustrate this using real numbers.
You choose player A 93-94 season with 2500 minutes, player B played only 57 minutes that season but is listed as a teammate for being on the same 93-94 roster. This qualifies as teammates. Now let’s say player B switched teams in the off season and played 100 minutes in 94-95 on the new team and 500 minutes in 95-96. Player C played for this new team in 94-95, 95-96, and 96-97. You could choose player B’s 500 minute 95-96 season but not the 94-95 season. This means that you could then only select player C’s 96-97 season because each chain must be advanced 1 year from an eligible WIS season.

I re-worked a whole new team. This trial and error is addicting.

I'm in...not sure with who, but I just started messing around and it's really immersive! And frustrating!

One thing I am confused about is, does it always have to increment up? Like if I have a player I wanted to use in 1951 on the Hawks and a player I wanted to use in 1952 on the Suns (fabricated examples) and they had a shared teammate, could I used Hawks 1951-52 Tom Smith, Hawks 1951-52 Frank Jones, Suns 1952-53 Sammy Samson so long as Frank Jones played on that 52-53 Suns team? Or does the twist require you to always be ahead meaning once I use my 51-52 season I can't use anyone else from that season even if I want to use some one in that season as my pivot? Does that make sense? How I use my pivot player is really what I am trying to work out here.
