Goetz- looks like decent team. You have good rebounding, defense and passing. No real productive shooters but that is the 70s: I predict you’ll have a better record than Savoy
Thanks joker - I couldn’t shoot but could pass and play D so those are my kind of guys!! I appreciate any and all feedback…good luck!

Okay, my 5 starters are set. Any comments?

PG - Buse
SG - Clark
SF - Brown
PF - Heard
C - Haywood

Wow that is an awesome starting 5!

So, I made the mistake in my 1st draft league not long ago about talking about players yet to be drafted and was called out by several owners. I have mixed feelings about the unwritten policy, but after thinking on it, I agree. But tbh only for selfish reasons. There are several players that I, in my imaginary world of being this great NBA GM and talent/statistics evaluator, have identified that should probably have already been drafted and am hoping no one mentions their name and gives away my great secret, or my world will come crumbling down. :) ;)
I agree it is generally been observed in all the basketball leagues I have been in that it is bad form to mention players yet to be drafted in the comment section.

So Savoy would it be possible for you to remove your post mentioning a player yet to be drafted?
Too late, but my plan worked. I wanted someone to take McGinnis before my pick, so maybe the guy I wanted will still be available.
Honest opinion here. Not ok with this^^^^^ I get the strategy but its not my cool by my estimation. Its 100% not fair to anyone hoping that guy will drop.
I agree 100% with this.

Don Nelson and Jerry Sloan go 4 picks apart - sublime...

Dang it, BenJoker got me back and selected George T. Johnson. I was gonna have a front court full of shot blockers with George T. Johnson, McAdoo, Clifford Ray, and Terry Tyler.

And, kudos to HDS1 in getting Slick Watts and his 90D and strong Ast% in the 5th Round. That's gonna be the steal of the draft. I was hoping he would drop to me but had actually projected you to select him. I thought if he got by you, I might have a chance. I shoulda taken him in the 4th, but went with Elgin Baylor instead.
For my 4th round pick, the only 2 players I had rated higher than Slick Watts were Wilkes & Baylor. Wilkes got picked 3 picks b4 me so I went with Baylor. I can't believe he went that late in the 5th Round!

Yep. D thoughout and Bobby Jones protects against Dantley's D. Plenty of good efg%. Not seeing any weaknesses. What I don't like about the team is that it's in my division.

You guys forgot one of the league rules:

* No Whining

I did not see any rule about not discussing possible picks, and frankly I've never heard of that before in the hundreds of baseball drafts I've been part of. In real life drafts the possible picks are always being discussed by the media, fans, and even the reps of the teams. To me that's all part of it. Guys in the drafts I've been in have always looked at other teams and discussed what position they need and who they might take. Of course nobody discusses who they are looking to take.

I don't see any way that it would "not be fair" to discuss players because someone else might be hoping to get him. But no worries, I won't mention any more available guys in this league before they are picked.

So, Savoy, if I had talked up Buse (remember your "Whew!) 5 or 10 slots before your pick, you would be OK with that?

Knowing you needed a SF type for your 5th starter you would have no problem if I mentioned, before your slot came up, all the good SFs not yet picked?
I think you should be able to discuss players, sure. It could backfire on you when someone in your division takes someone that you mentioned. Plus we may not agree on who are the good SFs that are left. I certainly would never claim that it was "unfair," but it's not a big thing for me, I'll go along with how you guys want and not mention any other players not take yet.

I am amazed that I got Roger A. Brown in the 5th round. I'm using the 69-70 season where he was second in the ABA in win shares per 48 that season after my first pick, Haywood. Brown was the MVP of the ABA playoffs that season, with 45 points and 11 rebounds in the clinching game for the Pacers. He averaged 33 points, 11 rebounds and 5 and half assists in the finals.

Wow! He picks a spot on the offensive side of the court and just stands there...

Savoybg….. I love how u have been helping out with this draft. The continuous update of the draft board has been a big help. I also love your enthusiasm and interest in nba wis. I am right there with u. I am having the time of my life. I do understand your initial reaction to the unspoken policy of discussing Undrafted players, I felt the same way at 1st. But then I had a chance to cool down, and I promise u, it’s better this way. I am happy to discuss undrafted players with u separately if u want to sitemail. And there’s a lot of owners who were happy to help answer general questions and general strategy with me via sitemail as well when I just started. This really is a great group of owners. That being said, it’s very ironic that you threw out the “No Whining” rule, because you have been whining the whole time. I play baseball wis as well and neither myself or anyone else gives a shirt what they do in baseball. We are on DDL 30 something. That means they have run this league over that many times. Please stop your whining. Ps. I can dish it out and take it with the best of them. You can’t upset me. If u wanna have some fun, we can needle each other, and provide some sideline entertainment for the masses. :)

Savoybg… Roger A Brown was a good pick for where u got him. Haywood was a good pick but my experience has been that Lanier is a little more well rounded. Buse was a FANTASTIC pick. The best pick you have made. Your 3rd and 4th round picks suck. U coulda gotten both of them in the late rounds. With Haywood and Buse, you still have a chance to be competitive if you can do better the rest of the draft.
