probably because it's just an online, pretend, fantasy game and it's more fun when everyone knows what they're doing...

No fun in beating a clueless coach. It's just sad.

Has anyone seen the report "I'm not sure he has the ability to get much better during his college career." (AC scout)?

I'm guessing it is 'tapped out' but I've been wrong before. Anyone have any experience with it?

These two are not the same. Tapped Out is not low potential. It is closer to NO potential. A Tapped Out guy will grow very little, no matter how much practice you give him or what his WE is. Low potential can still grow somewhere in the teens (maybe as much as the mid-20s), depending on certian things. A tapped out guy at any level will most probably grow less than 10 pts in a year. I had one on one of my teams. He was a D1AA DL with a WE of 34, and he grew 8 pts in a 17 game season.

Tapped Out is the lowest of the low. They are also VERY rare. Much more rare than STLs. I have played in over 120 seasons. I have seen my share of STLs. I have had a couple teams that had three of them at the same time. In all of my recruiting experiences, I have seen a Tapped Out scouting report ONCE!

I've found one each of the past 3 seasons in Dobie. What luck!

I've seen it and always take it as a "Tapped Out" player and never pursue it any farther.

It was time to bring this back to the front page for some folks.

Bump so I can use this in about a week :)

I am thinking there may be a fourth for STL type:

Great potential
1. Sky's the limit (in the AC scouting rreport)
2. Incredible upside potential (in the AC scouting rreport)
3. A truly gifted athlete (in the HC scouting report)

My LB John Hall was 'Sky is the limit with this kid' and he now has 22 points he gained after 3 exhibition and 2 season games. My FR* RB Robert Diaz has 23 points gained after the same amount of games.. I don't recall what the message was in his scouting report but I gaurantee you it was not one of these 3.

It's a sliding scale. Your RB could be on the very high end of high potential.

It's a sliding scale. Your RB could be on the very high end of high potential.
Also your RB is a freshmen and your LB is a junior. Players improve faster as underclassmen, largely because they have lower numbers and thus more space for improvement. You can't compare freshmen and junior growth - apples and oranges.

WE plays a big role in growth too. I have a Fr. OL that was average potential that grew 40 points this seasons. His WE is 56.

Not sure about this link so I will try another way

Maybe that will work

Good potential
1. Above average potential (in the HC scouting report)
2. He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us. (in the AC scouting report)
3. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I have an amazing upside to my game. (message from recruit)
4. Upside is my middle name (message from recruit)
5. "improve a lot" (from AC scouting report)
6. "room to grow".
7. "With a little work, he could be a very good player" (from HC scouting report)
8. "Good potential for improvement" (from the HC scouting report)
9. "He's not the most gifted athlete . . . but not bad at all." (from the HC scouting report).

Average potential:
1. Looks like he has a hard time making adjustments. (from the HC scouting report)
2. He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years. (from the HC scouting report)
3. I think his growth potential is pretty average - nothing special. (from the AC scouting report)
4. My motor never stops running (message from recruit)
5. I give 110% out there (message from recruit)
6. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I've worked really hard and lived up to my potential. (message from recruit)
7. "Some room for improvement, but not much." (from HC scouting report)
8. "Probably won't see huge improvements." (from HC scouting report)
9. "He seems slow to pick things up in practice." (from HC scouting report)

Low potential
1. "he's worked really hard in high school and has about reached his potential (from AC scouting report)
2. "tapped out" (from AC or HC scouting report, I forget which -- it's been a while since I've seen this message).

These are not guesses on my part. I've done a lot of work cross-referencing the various messages and charting recruit growth during my time in GD.

Add this message to great potential:

Tremendous potential - he could be a star. (HC scouting report)

This message was in HC scouting report for 2, that's right TWO! , of my recruits this season. Best part is they are both RBs. Pretty damned lucky!
