The only fair thing to do would to have everything as is, and apologized. Everyone got penalized equally without you re-running...with the re-run, people could change their stuff around while all players couldn't have known about your RASH decision...thus benefitting some while penalizing others. You can't change the past uneble...that's a HUGE FAUX PAS!

No, everybody didn't get penalized equally. As I just explained, some were able to gameplan, some weren't.

You missed my point.

Look, I won both of my games (two teams) before the reset and after the reset. So this didn't affect me overly much (other than a bogus triple OT game which zonked my fatigue).

I don't know who told you what, but I was unable to set my gameplan (matchups/dt only - positioning was unaffected) for more than just the couple hours prior to that PM game. I'm pretty sure I was unable to do it for the game before that as well. Whatever.

It's like you're assuming that everyone who won before the replay had the opportunity to set stuff while everyone who lost did not.

Which is simply not true.

As I said, I won both before and after the replay, so it didn't affect me a whole lot. But this whole thing sets off a bad feeling with me, and as a fairly new customer, that is not a good sign.

The problem with setting the game plan lasted a lot longer than just one day. I've noticed it for a week plus. I just never bothered to send in a ticket, assuming that someone else would do it.

I was only able to set my offense. Defense and the miscellaneous settings were off-limits.

As far as I can tell, the problem was limited to newly created teams where the league has not started play yet. For leagues already in play, I was able to set the game plans.

I like the response I got. ---> "Why the fu*k are you bothering us with your problems? You're a fu*king moron that doesn't haven't any clue how to clear your cache. You must have spyware on your machine because we never fu*k up."

See! I told you someone would send in a ticket.

The customer support is actually pretty typical, not limited to WhatIf.

For instance, we have a contractor being paid about 6 million plus over 5 years on a IT project. One of the Oracle services that they installed was crashing on an apparent random basis after they upgraded our system to Oracle 10g.

The contractor claims that there is something wrong with our sever environment that's causing the problem. Months later, we finally got the contractor to spend the effort to "investigate" the problem since we learned that another of their client was having the same issue.

I overheard one of their goons telling my supervisor that it was caused by an outdated dll. 2 hours work to find that. Whatever.

The cause of the crashes isn't my biggest beef. My beef is that the idiot contractor would rather spend months finger pointing than fix a problem that they caused. In the meantime, my users were a bit miffed.

And we make fun of our own internal help desk staff as in "Scan Disk, Defrag, and Call Me in the Morning" as their default solution for all of your hardware and software woes.

So ... "customer support" is all relative.

Yeah, but look when he sent the ticket in (7-25) and look when action was taken (8-4)...way to be on top of things...

Games should never be re-run, the end...seble, take heed...

see, I never had the problem that sly sent in. I could get it to switch pages, but the defensive matchups/double team (everything below that) wouldn't show up.

I could change the positioning... and it wasn't like I changed it early - I don't get up until after Noon (est).

All right, here's the deal:

Over the weekend a ticket was submitted indicating a problem changing the gameplan view to defense or miscellaneous. After a quick check I realized that it was only when you didn't have a currently scheduled opponent. I put out a fix for the bug on 8/5 about 9:30 or so. As soon as that went out the page was broken for everyone. PM games ran. I got several tickets later in the evening indicating that it was broken. I quickly realized the problem and fixed the page itself. Then, realizing that many people may have not been able to gameplan for those PM games, I wiped them out and rescheduled them.

I'm not sure where the misunderstanding happened, but I clearly said that anyone that tried to gameplan during that time was at an unfair disadvantage, whether they won the game or not.

so seble broke something and then tried to fix it but only made things worse and followed up with poor communication and now he's in a ***** fest with his customers?

get out of here - something like that could never happen

ever

Fair enough, I could've been more descriptive in the initial explanation. It was late and I was just trying to get something up since people were starting to wonder why games were disappearing.

I'm actually surprised how many seem to think not being able to gameplan isn't worthy of rerunning games. I felt at the time it was pretty cut and dry, that if some coaches possibly had an unfair disadvantage that they shouldn't be punished for it.

Ok Scott, the only thing you're doing is looking like more and more of a buffoon...backtracking and renegging aren't the best practices here.

So earlier you told me that everyone wasn't penalized, but in the above bolded statement you said that everyone was affected by the bug...so how can everyone not be equally penalized if everyone had the same problem? By the way I thought this happened for the 8-4 games, not the 8-5s...no? I also love how you talk about the forums only representing a handful of the NBA sim playership and how we aren't the largest/smartest voice for the sim, however you'll let a ticket from 1 user change the entire landscape of a day's games...friggin classic!

Like I said before, you gave people an advantage AFTER you decided to re-run games because there wasn't enough time or notice so that EVERYONE could know about the fix, and quite frankly there never could be enough time...thus what's the best solution then? Leave the games as they were, fix the bug, and apologize...and I'm not sure you did any of the 3...Great Job!...

As to the defense and misc settings, I noticed that problem that it wouldn't switch. But, I hit save, got that error message, but the page switched to the defensive settings and then the misc settings page. I then made my changes which stayed. It was a work-around.

I made the playoffs though. The seventh place team lost to a bottom feeder and another team with a below average record. My ticket had I missed the playoffs would have been very grumbly.
