I just completed an OL season. I picked up three low volume hitters who put up fairly good slash lines in real life.

So I was able to get an aggregate 202 plate appearances out of 2003 Howie Clark, 2003 Wilson Delgado, and 1979 Dickie Thon.

Have to appreciate what those boys did for my squad as spot starters and pinch hitters. This was their aggregate slash line: .449/.505/.511!

Thanks fellas.

Clark .408/.463/.465 Delgado .460/.508/.480 Thon .491/.556/.600

1999 Kenny Lofton

216 seasons in performance history.
Best performance: .342/.427/.472
Worst performance: .251/.353/.325
Average performance: .283/.367/.376
My just finished open league: .221/.314/.277

Used for a full season, never below 99%.

And on another completely different note, an open league AAA pitcher throws a no-hitter:

At 98% no less...

Nice. Making that even more impressive is his real life IP/G is only 5.19 (it's 2006 Rich Harden), so in the last couple of innings he was throwing tired.
4/30/2017 2:36 PM
Yeah, that game really ate him up fatigue wise. Probably the only time in history someone throws a no-hitter and then is immediately demoted to AAA!

In my current OL, Babe Ruth is #1 for MVP but mysteriously missing from the all-star team.

Believe it, or don't! But believe it b/c it's true.

Ha ha ha!! That's funny, bc even though my team is in last place in my division in a theme league with no AAA or WW (my best friends) due to a shortage of starting pitching innings, two of my guys are in the top 5 for MVP and my 1907 Walsh is in the Cy Young running. So go figure!

The 1960s Miracle Mets have another Miracle !

In a decades-franchise league, my 1960s Mets (I keep trying to retire the OleProfessor persona, now I got another free team thanks to the credits, and will have to keep it around a little longer) won the World Series in 7 games against a tough San Francisco team.

Here is the team:

https://www.whatifsports.com/mlb-l/playerstats.asp?teamid=1383916

Tom Seaver won all three games he pitched.

The 1969 Mets have always seemed under-rated to me: they won 100 games, won the Eastern Division of the NL by 8 games over one of the best ever Chicago Cubs squads, swept the Atlanta Braves (Henry Aaron, Orlando Cepeda, Phil Niekro, Clete Boyer) in three straight games and beat the awesome Baltimore Orioles in five games in the World Series.

But I never see them listed as among the greatest pitching staffs ever, nor among the best teams ever. Yet this time due to a low budget league - $70 mil, I wasn't able to use Jerry Koosman, and even so, Mets batters hit very well, the team fielded well, ran the bases well and pitched very well. Maybe they will get a little more respect someday.

Box score

From a 1938 progressive, the New York Yaks are down 6-2 to the visiting Cincinnati Riverboats in the bottom of the 9th when AAA batter Guff Taco enters the game as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded. Guff's got a grand total of 0 home runs through the first 122 games of the season, but so what -- that probably just means he's due. Guff slugs a grand slam to tie the game!

The manager rewards the youngster by letting him stay in the game at second base.

Fast-forward to the bottom of the 13th, the score still tied 6-6, and Guff's at the plate again, this time with two men aboard. Guff slugs his second home run of the game (and the season!) to win it for the Yaks, 9-6.

2 HR and 7 RBI -- not bad for a rook who didn't get into the game until the bottom of the 9th!

This just happened to Trey Mancini of the Orioles last night. PH game-tying HR in the 9th and stayed in to hit the walk-off winner in the 11th.

"Trey Mancini" is such a hepcat handle. You could see him sitting in with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, blowin' the alto sax.

Well, we finally landed alone in first place after our 21st straight win in the AM cycle.

I have to say that the team we're battling (Cleveland) hasn't been a slouch during our hot streak. Over the same span they've gone 15-6, a .714 clip.

Still 26 games left in the season, including five with Cleveland, and they've owned us head-to-head (8-3).

EDIT: Got the W streak up to 23 before losing in the AM cycle, 6-5 in 14 innings. What a ride!

Great line.

I forget the exact number, but the longest win streak a team of mine has had here was I think 19, last 19 in a row on the season to land us in second place, one game out of first and out of the postseason. A Philadelphia team (the Weavers I think) in a two-season prog that did eventually go one a couple of seasons later to win my first championship for me.
