I actually liked our chances last night. If you take away St. Olaf's edges in WE (14) and Dur (13), we have the exact same overall rating. The first meeting was a close game despite Olaf shooting over 60%..which was pretty unlikely to happen again. Plus our Press IQs have come a long way since early in the season.

I felt like stopping Shires would be the key to the game for us, as we don't have a true SF this year. Basically I decided Kremer was the best option, despite being a true FR. His 57 ath, 82 spd should make him a terrific Press defender, even with only 23 defense and B- IQ. So I'm not shocked that Shires struggled with a guy running circles around him all night, although 3-14 is pretty harsh.

What strikes me as weird about the game is how few Reb Shires had (ONLY guy on the team without an off rebound)..especially with all his teammates crashing the boards at will. Seriously, give Wada a gold star or something for more than doubling his season high in off rebounds!

It was a great game though..one of those "shouldn't have been a 2nd round" type games. Really it all just came down to my 2 best shooters having a better night than yours.

Yea...I know. Just frustrating. Like you said, really shouldn't have been a 2nd round matchup.

L_E musta been thrilled I lost.

well taz - rematch time...couldn't be happier with the way this team is playing finally...good luck...great showing for all the teams in our tourney!

a combined 24 losses between our two teams but here we are :)

6 dynasty teams remaining, all matched up against each other, meaning we are guaranteed 3 dynasty teams in the final 4. GL to everyone tonight.

gl to you as well jj, but just a little less than what Chicago gets :)
Hopefully we make the right adjustments from our preseason matchup.

JJ, you're team is much better than I rememberred, probably since I didn't game plan much for the exhibition since I had no info to go off of. If I can make my shots, and keep you off the boards then I like my chances. However if it gets into a rebounding battle, you're boys will wipe the floor with us. good luck.

Well, to be truthful I wasn't looking that far ahead, been swamped with some real-world issues. But, at 2-7 lifetime vs you breum I'm just as happy to have not met up again this season.

i don't know taz - i see a lot of advantages for your team...not sure my guys have it in them to beat you...

i was thinking your squad looked a lot better too - although i guess 30+ games later it should look that way - lol

good luck tonight...

you too wronoj...

thanks JJ. got a tough matchup tonight in Lycoming... should be a good one. I guess there are no easy games at this point, but he has been crushing people in the tourney.
GL to you all too-- I will be watching the Chicago-Arcadia game pretty closely, since I always play both of you in the noncon.

JJ, I'm guessing w/ that matchup being the first exhibition game, neither one of us had much of a clue which exact lineup we were going to throw out there. I know instead of guessing, I made a best guess and just rolled out there. Didn't bother to look back much after that, I imagine you were the same way. I guess each of look at this game in a different light now that it counts.
I just wish Bailey was available to participate. His absence almost cost us vs W Conn St, I can't imagine it won't cost us at some point, though Its all gravy after getting to the sweet 16 this year.

Nice game by Brandeis in the Sweet 16. Obviously we just shot like crap and had no chance after scoring only 4 pts in the first 10 min or whatever, but I did like how well my Press created some TOs..makes me feel good about the future of the team as the IQs get even better.
Honestly L_E I have no idea how you got through the whole season and an Elite 8 (so far) with only 3 post players! Whenever I leave myself with even 4 bigs I get fouled out of the gym and end up playing SGs in the paint. So great job managing that!
2/6/2008 4:34 PM
I'm with you killbatman-- I want 4 or 5 good bigs... just for fouls and rebounds. but what do i know?
2/6/2008 10:50 PM
not sure how that happened taz...my guys just seemed to get hot...expected it to be very close either way...still - great season...
2/7/2008 5:45 AM
congrats jj, We couldn't stop fouling you, Arcadia was just a bit too athletic in the post for us. Once the fouls piled up, so did the scoring margin.
Good luck in the finals, though I've got to admin I'm rooting for an all Upstate finals.
