I watched a documentary on Petty years ago that was pretty good. I remember one part where he's listening to some tracks Roger McGuinn is recording for a new album. I guess McGuinn was given songs to record by his producer, songs that Petty didn't think were so hot. Said Tom after listening to one of the tunes (paraphrasing here from memory): "Roger, let me smoke a joint and I'll write a better song for you in ten minutes."

However I do agree with this: “put America first” with border protections, the elimination of “Sanctuary Cities”, no “amnesty for illegal aliens,” gun rights, and a repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Minus the gun rights. To me if you want a semi auto rifle you need a 2nd permit and you need to be at least 25 unless you are in the military or need it for your job (police officer say) then you need to be at least 21.'

This was just the primary, and he ran unchallenged. In other words, no one had to vote for him, he already had the nomination. He'll get a lot more votes in the general.
