Did it ever occure to you guys that you might have it all backwards? the guys that have reached their potential have higher cores & are ready to play now but the ones with high potential will have lower cores & not ready to play yet needing to be groomed. potential wont make a tackle or block...

Keen, I am sure there are players out there who make this seem true but it is still not the whole truth. Going back to the tapped out te I took. He had great str/blocking combo when I took him. Which could make your argument true. However. those two attruibutes rose 4 and 5 respectively his freshman year. Those are very good increases considering the fact I did NOT make the CC game or playoffs that year.

Sticky this. This question gets asked every day.

Work ethic determines how fast a player will grow. Potential determines how much a player will grow.

So the reached my Potential guys are ready to play now but the high Potential guys need to grow before they are ready for prime time?

No.

The guys with high WE will grow quicker than guys with low WE (assuming they have equal starts and PT). The high potential guys will, over the course of their career, grow more than the low potential guys with all other considerations being equal.

Good potential
1. Above average potential (in the HC scouting report)
2. He's got the potential to improve his game a lot over 4 years with us. (in the AC scouting report)
3. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I have an amazing upside to my game. (message from recruit)
4. Upside is my middle name (message from recruit)
5. "improve a lot" (from AC scouting report)
6. "room to grow".
7. "With a little work, he could be a very good player" (from HC scouting report)
8. "Good potential for improvement" (from the HC scouting report)
9. "He's not the most gifted athlete . . . but not bad at all." (from the HC scouting report).

Average potential:
1. Looks like he has a hard time making adjustments. (from the HC scouting report)
2. He's made good strides towards reaching his potential over the past couple years. (from the HC scouting report)
3. I think his growth potential is pretty average - nothing special. (from the AC scouting report)
4. My motor never stops running (message from recruit)
5. I give 110% out there (message from recruit)
6. I'm sure that your guys took some good notes about my game, and recognized that I've worked really hard and lived up to my potential. (message from recruit)
7. "Some room for improvement, but not much." (from HC scouting report)
8. "Probably won't see huge improvements." (from HC scouting report)
9. "He seems slow to pick things up in practice." (from HC scouting report)

Low potential
1. "he's worked really hard in high school and has about reached his potential (from AC scouting report)
2. "tapped out" (from AC or HC scouting report, I forget which -- it's been a while since I've seen this message).

These are not guesses on my part. I've done a lot of work cross-referencing the various messages and charting recruit growth during my time in GD.

ya know when we (i am referring to id's that are about 2 to 3 years old and have achieved some success in this game) were looking for this info back in the day we had to go find it or earn it ... the amount of info sharing that goes around these days yields 2 observations to me .. why do those that know give away what was so difficultly earned and why do newer players not learn these things way faster given all the free info and advice heaped on them ?? sorry for the off topic post but i will jump off my soap box now

Did you have to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow also? Tough times back in the days huh.

I don't know, Darryl... you could ask Willgibson who put the emphasis on the exact meanings.

Hi again DJ and welcome back to GD. I decided to do this because there was a lot of confusion for newer players. I didn't regard the information as particularly difficult to earn and certain IDs who make a habit of spreading FUD around these boards had already clouded this particular issue in previous threads.
