As someone new to the game, I have read EVERYTHING in the forums, trying to avoid the newbie blues. I have especially embraced this thread for pitching advice, so to those who posted, please accept my thanks, and I will let you know how it turns out.

I can't find any advice in this thread. Must be missing it.

He's gonna draft Dick Sinya.

Oddly enough, tandl71, Mr. Sinya does not show up in a search. Perhaps you are hiding him in a crevice of yours? A crevice of eternal darkness and stench?

I tried the '03, '04 Taylor and '05 martinez rotation in an exh. league. '03 Taylor got shelled in the teams' only loss, but pitched well in his other 2 starts. '04 Taylor went 4-0, with a .278 OAV. Martinez also pitched well enough to win, but was not overwhelming. Fatigue in that rotation would definitely have been an issue if the season had gone on.

A few things to note, exh leagues are too small a sample size to decide the usefulness of a rotation since each pitcher only pitches a few times.

The rotation that you mentioned above is built knowing that the two Taylors will have to pitch more games to make up for Martinez not having enough innings to pitch in a three man rotation unless one uses the AAA Starter to work with the Martinez

From what I remember as well, the above rotation was more mentioned as the best bang for the buck and not the premium best since it would allow you to spend money in other parts of the ball club, please see the original post on the Taylor/Martinez Rotation. Using it in Astro with a good lineup

Which park was home for this exh league and where were the starts at? The OAV stat is meaningless without that info

league # was mlb89664. Kaufman was my home stadium. Games:

1. '04 Taylor in Comerica, Game 2, '03 Taylor at home, Game 3,Martinez throws a 5 hit shut out at home, Game 4,'04 Taylor, a road game but also at Kaufman, Game 5 '03 Taylor at home, ^. Martinez at home, 7. '04 Taylor throws a shut out in the astrodome, 8. '03 taylor wins 3-2 in the astrodome, 9. Martinez on the road in kaufman, 10 '04 taylor gets a CG 3-2 win in the great american ballpark.

I have to thank you for your response to my original post. as a newbie, I was just looking at the totals, not the specifics. You taught me something. The team went 9-1, the game i lost was game 2, '03 taylor got hit hard. but in the astrodome, game 8, he was solid, and in his 2nd start at home, he was also OK.

I've been away from the Sim for awhile but I thought dead-ball era pitchers weren't going to be as effective anymore with the defensive penalty. Is that the case?
