In a 1-and-done you need both. Congrats!

Hell of a tournament, everyone involved; I can't remember another one with that many OT games, close finishes and upsets. Congrats to "McMurry" and their head coach of a thousand usernames. With all the upsets, the best team still probably ended up winning.

Now I'm counting the minutes to OJ's rankings... Lasell cracks the Top 10 this year, and the NAC gets a 5th team onto the list (6th coming next season!)

Just a note to everyone in the "power conferences," which seem to be a long way ahead of the rest of the country:

The race for the best conference has gotten contentious, and nobody wants to be behind; thusly, it's understandable that everyone will try and lure top notch coaches out of their big-fish-in-a-small-pond schools (like killbatman, or brianp last year). While this is good in the short term for the conferences, the consolidation of the coaching 'talent' in Wooden D3 will eventually kill the world.

When 4 conferences are full, a few others are half-filled, and 20+ conferences are nearly barren, it is going to have an effect on new coaches. They aren't going to stick around their ghost-towns for long, and they'll either go up the ladder to D2, or they will be bored by the game and figure it's not worth the money.

So what we should be doing--and take this with a grain of salt because it's a tough sell--is recruiting coaches from other worlds, and even more so, from outside whatif. Friends, co-workers, in-laws, whatever you can find. The only way--long term--this world is going to remain fun and competitive, is with new coaches and more depth.

While the number of quality programs seems to be at an all-time high, the drop-off after, say, 125 in the RPI is gargantuan.

Couldnt agree more its a tough sell though. Ive tried so hard to fill the asc for the last few season with no luck.

I agree with everything you said above bradshaw, unfortunately it seems like the amount of new coaches keeps shrinking. I didnt agree with WIF giving out free seasons because it brought out a lot of temptation to cheat. However it did give out the preception that this game was growing. It would be great if we could recruit coaches from all worlds and create one great d-III world where winner takes all. I love this game but worry about its long term future. I would honestly have to rethink playing this game if I was in a conference or world that was mostly sims, as the banter is what makes this crazy game so much fun.

I like the fact that we are in a world were multiple time champion oldave can barely make the nt most seasons. that says alot
