He sees it when a entire communities freak out at the idea of a minority religion building a house of worship nearby. He sees it when school districts in the south do this.

B is probably very concerned with protecting religious freedom. But his concern is probably rooted in making sure that everyone is protected. Not just Christians.

Yep. The first amendment doesn't just protect religious people, it protects non-religious people from being ordered to conform to nonsensical bullshit.

Nope, I didn't miss it.

I've been busy trying to find atheist groups who are fighting the good fight to protect the first amendment rights of religious people.  Nothing, so far.

What does that have to do with anything? You asked if an atheist would care about the protection of the first amendment. Of course an atheist would, considering that the first amendment also protects freedom from religion.
