I think that moving monuments to "special" places or museums is the beginning of the slippery slope. This country needs to man up about "feelings" and let history be history. If, at one time, someone built a monument to a racist somewhere in the US, then it happened for a reason at that particular time in history. Moving it, or removing it, says nothing other than that we are too weak to stare our own history in the face. If you're offended by a statue, or a monument, or a plaque...then you probably are struggling with a lot of more important problems in the world. If those efforts are turned to education, we all win because the monuments take on a different meaning and show how we have grown as a society.
