Cautiously optimistic after a Bo Jackson walk-off in game 2 puts us up 2-0:

Clemens is up again for game 3, and presumably would start a game 5, too.  I'm already looking to game 4 as the must-win game...

Clemens gets the W in game 3:

We've gotta get it done in game 4!

We're screwed!

Clemens starting game 5.

Gotta love MVP Rickey's .071/.278/.143 batting line, to go with being tossed out 3 out of 4 SB attempts by a C-armed catcher.

Oh yeah, losing game 5 would give us our first 3L of the season!

I'm a little surprised you went with a 4-man rotation.  I'm guessing that was necessary because of SP fatigue?  Given what you felt was the importance of game 4, I was expecting you to bring Stieb back on short rest to pitch that game.

I actually put a lot (maybe too much) thought into the rotation, the lefty/righty matchups, and who would start at home (with a +1/+1 for HR) and in California (0/0).

Anyway, Stieb will start in game 5.  He's actually got the worst ERC# of the 4 who have started, though.  It's sort of an embarrassment of riches when it comes to SP decisions.  And hopefully not just a straight up embarrassment after game 5, ha ha.

A dramatic finish to a pretty good series:

at work, cannot access the link...what was the result of game 5?

Down 6-3 in the bottom of the 8th, we scored 3 runs off a suddenly ineffective Clemens to tie it.  We held them scoreless in the top of the 9th, then in the bottom of the inning pinch-hitter Carlton Fisk hit a 2-run shot off Fernando V. to clinch the series.

I also noticed, looking at the boxscore again, that a few of my opponent's front line players (Sandberg, Eric Davis, Hrbek) were replaced by scrubs with a 4-0 lead in the 5th.  No doubt that helped us as well.

hints of 1975 in that outcome....cool

Knocked out in the 2nd round, 4 games to 1.  Can't really complain, the team that beat us had great pitching and won 113 games themselves.
