Can't decide which line is better the 11-9-9-16 of Hugh Duffy or the 5-8-5-8 with 6 walks of Honus Wagner...

Game 7 update Morgan 0-3 with a CS, now 1-24 hitting .042 and 0-2 SB. All for the measly pricetag of $8M

Thank god I didn't take him in a full league...Morgan game 8 - 0-4. Now 1-28 batting .036.

Yeah, I play around with this idea every once in a while in a spring league. Much harder to do now that we have to hit the IP minimum, but still possible.

Used to be that you could have a $55M offense along with a $25M "cookie" pitching staff that could go 10-0 in a spring league with like a 100-20 run differential.

All my pitchers (except 1) will be at < 30 fatigue by the end...

That team finished up 9-1, scoring 73 runs and allowing 28. Red Ruffing lost the opener, then they ran off 9 in a row. The "cookies" pitched all but 4 innings of the 10 games.

For those interested, the pitching staff was as follows (RL IP/162 in parentheses):

Mickey Welch 1886 (681)
Red Ruffing 46 (65)
Carmen Hill 18 (57)
Nick Maddox 1907 (57)
Johnny Niggeling 43 (54)
Cy Falkenberg 15 (52)
Joey Devine 2008 (45)
George Dumont 15 (43)
Bill George 1888 (41.2)
Vida Blue 70 (39)
Mike Adams 2009 (37)
Jack McDowell 87 (28)
Bob Milacki 88 (26)

Devine and Adams were Closer A and B. Welch was mop up. The other guys started 1 game apiece and all but Ruffing won their starts.

So, I guess one of the lessons we learned here is that Morgan even sucks in Spring Leagues.

Final stats, Morgan doubled his batting average...

73 Morgan 3 hits 36ab , .083/.250/.111 1-3 SB 1 double, 2RBI.

To have some fun, projected to 162 games he would have racked up 49 hits, 16 SB, 16 doubles, no triples, no home runs and 32 RBI. $8M well spent!!!
